Job description
Responsible for the overall daily direction to the manufacturing and packaging functions through the development of operation policies and procedures consistent with organizational requirements and corporate standards.
Essential Functions
Interaction with Decatur Site Management in establishment and ensuring compliance with policies, budgets (departmental and capital), goals and objectives, and regulatory guidelines (pharmaceutical, safety and financial).
The duties include providing site leadership, guidance, and personnel development from both administrative and technical base.
Support company product scheduling, on-time start, meeting batch yields, processing, release and shipment to meet customer needs and sales and marketing goals.
Interface with external organizations such as the FDA, DEA, Contract Auditors, OSHA, EPA, and others to ensure compliance with current regulations.
Lead and support filling and packaging equipment modifications and upgrades for automated process efficiency, regulatory compliance and replacement of obsolescent equipment, controls and systems.
Provide leadership and support for continuing process improvement efforts for Manufacturing and Packaging. This shall include the initiation of Capital Projects which benefit the line efficiency and/or productivity; along with project justification analysis, program preparation, project implementation, cost tracking, scheduling control and completion/closing of all projects on time and within budget.
Enhance the management and operation skills within the operations departments; provide technical resources to departments within the organization regarding filling and packaging equipment improvement based upon the departmental systems used to facilitate the workload; represent and foster harmonious relationships both inter and intra-departmentally.
Additional Responsibilities
Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assists in the evaluation of employees’ performance; develops departmental and plant Standard Operating Procedures and sound managerial practices; evaluates hazards within the facility for safety, health, and environmental risks.
Supervisory
The incumbent supervises the two (2) sites of Decatur Manufacturing in their efforts as a group in conjunction with the organization’s requirements: All areas of formal supervision are included such as performance appraisals, hiring, termination, work direction, and personnel development. In addition, since outside contractors and vendors are directly involved with the success of the operations, the incumbent must coordinate with the contractors / vendors and their personnel.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science related field. Minimum of 10 years related experience and 5 years senior management experience in a Pharmaceutical operation.
Job Prerequisites
Ability to meet attendance standards. All full-time employees are required to work a 40-hr week. At times it may be necessary to work additional hours in order to get the required tasks accomplished to meet deadlines.
Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, JDE, SAP or another inventory and MRP based system, Trackwise or other investigation tool. Lean manufacturing training and/or certification a plus.
Physical Demands, Mental Requirements, and Work Environment
The position requires prolonged sitting. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Occasional high stress work requires dealing with senior management and customers/clients and regulatory agencies.
