Job Description
Comcast's Engineering & Platform Services' Communications team supports an innovative, dynamic technical organization at the intersection of media and technology. EPS communications emphasizes the use of rich media and social collaboration to drive cultural changes that accelerate our efforts, fuel innovation and help technology leaders reach critical business goals.
The communications director is responsible for developing and executing employee communications strategies and programs. The person in this role partners in the integration of communication strategies across the company, and provides leadership and direction for multiple functional areas. He or she could potentially be responsible for managing employees at a manager, supervisor, and professional levels as the department grows. This individual ensures appropriate resources are in place to achieve business objectives, and influences, shapes, and integrates strategy for functional areas.
Core Responsibilities
Develops and implements communications strategies to expand employee engagement in customer experience initiatives, new methodologies and models, as well as EPS's mission, goals and strategy
Proposes new, interactive ways to drive engagement, promote career development initiatives, celebrate accomplishments, encourage innovation, connect technology to business goals and raise awareness, understanding and commitment to change initiatives
Writes, edits and directs company-wide communications, such as announcements, presentations, reports and messaging, often at high volume and on tight deadlines
Develops and executes metrics-driven communications plans for key campaigns in partnership with HR team members.
Develops and oversees Employee Communications initiatives designed to support business objectives, long-term goals, and projects
Oversees the development of broad-based Employee Communications tools, providing employees with messaging and industry/competitive context for business initiatives
Establishes company best practices for communications and persistently researches new tools and practices
Provides tactical support and builds awareness for national communications initiatives led by Corporate Communications, Human Resources and leaders in the business
Proposes new approaches to drive measurable employee engagement in social communities, blogs, and other user-generated communications
Delivers rich, digital media productions, such as infographics, radio interviews, and videos, that educate, motivate and inspire employees to deliver on critical initiatives
Builds on trusted relationships with technical teams to promote success stories that illustrate the business value EPS delivers to Comcast
Coordinates and contributes to major EPS events, such as leadership summits, All Hands broadcasts and milestone celebrations
Delivers exceptional, innovative work on tight deadlines; succeeds amid ambiguity; digs for content from multiple sources; intuitively understands how much detail to include in messaging; is proactive and detail-oriented
Handles tactical assignments with a sense of urgency and purpose
Works directly with individual systems and functional areas to build awareness and use of corporate communications vehicles
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance, and willingness to flex and adapt schedule when business urgency dictates.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary

Qualifications
Demonstrated success serving the needs of varied leaders, clients and stakeholders
Superior interpersonal and influencing skills; finely tuned tact and diplomacy
Demonstrated ability proactively and reactively deliver strong work product, with a record of success in an environment where expectations and timelines shift
Knowledge of CMS and social tools such as WordPress, Joomla, SharePoint, Sitrion, Jive, etc. and the ability create and share content across digital channels
Expert level skills in HTML, PowerPoint, desktop publishing, Adobe Creative Suite, Wufoo, InfoGraphics, photography, image-editing skills, video production, live streaming broadcasts
Understanding of a technology employee audience
Persistent adherence to high standards of excellence; track record of effective partnerships, sound decision-making abilities, unwavering ownership and follow-through
Expert understanding of the AP Style Manual, and other style guides
Ability to communicate to diverse audiences -- including on behalf of senior leadership.
Strong record of accomplishment in continuously improving communications processes, methods and tactics to increase the team's capacity, capability and speed
Ability to communicate concisely and directly with a focus on word-count economy
