Director Divisional Research CBRE New York City


Job description
Summary: The primary role of the Research Director is to ensure that the research department is strategically aligned with business development objectives of .CBRE. The Research Director forms ad hoc research teams and utilizes proprietary data and resources to support business development. He/she is responsible for proactively connecting with sales professionals at all levels as well as the sales management team to generate ideas for the constant improvement of research-related client facing materials.
The Research Director is the area’s market expert. He/she should actively seek opportunities to participate in client pitches, maintain a highly visible profile in the local real estate community, seek external speaking opportunities, and promote the CBRE Research product to the media. He/she will be responsible for spearheading the production of market analysis and timely white papers addressing market trends. The Research Director is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the department’s proprietary data and analysis and incorporating it into compelling presentations. The Research Director will partner with the Region’s Research Center Leader who is responsible for the day-to-day research operations of the region.

This position sits in New York City. However, we will consider any candidate that possesses the experience and dynamic personality and demeanor we are seeking no matter their current location. You must be willing and able to relocate to the New York area.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of research data and analysis.

Document processes and strategies.

Meet regularly with sales professionals at all levels.

Meet regularly with the Manhattan leadership team and office heads from Long Island, the Burroughs, Southern Connecticut, and Northern New Jersey.

Accompany brokers on client pitches.

Analyze market trends and incorporate findings into presentations, client newsletters, special reports, and white papers.

Act as the spokesperson for the Manhattan and Tri-State research viewpoint.

Improve research’s client facing materials; partner with Marketing.

Evaluate processes and tools for developing advanced information and analytical approaches as a key driver of differentiation.

Evaluate opportunities to extract customer relevant insights from existing data.

Evaluate new and existing 3rd-party data sources to augment current in-house information.

Oversee Manhattan research staff.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Strong leadership skills and a positive work attitude

Solid understanding of the commercial real estate business

Established expertise in the commercial real estate market

Manhattan and/or Tri-State expertise highly desirable

Prior experience in a Research related function is preferable

Knowledge of data management and analytics processes

Excellent decision-making skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent presentation skills
