Job Description
The Editorial Director is responsible for all day-to-day editorial strategy for USA Network’s digital brand offering across all various platforms.
This position is primarily responsible for consistently creating, maintaining and executing the editorial voice for USA Digital’s offerings across all existing and emerging media digital access points for the USA Brand, and creating an integrated editorial content strategy – including prolifically creating and distributing original editorial content -- that will increase user engagement and brand connection.
This role will report to the SVP Digital of USA Network.
Key Responsibilities
VOICE/VISION AND LEADERSHIP
oConsistently provide and execute a strategic editorial direction, editorial leadership, and a strong vision, aesthetic and point of view for USA Network’s digital offerings that drive the very best user experience/audience engagement and maximize revenue potential. Execute and manage this strategy across all platforms, including our consumer-facing site (USANetwork.com), mobile app (USA Now), Xbox Live, Apple TV, YouTube, and all other existing and emerging media.
oManage direct reports. Evolve editorial & operations team so that every member is producing to full potential.

EDITORIAL CALENDAR
Plan and execute USA’s editorial calendar to support and leverage all show launches, major channel initiatives, sales efforts, and cultural milestones.
Devise and execute best possible strategy for creating and distributing USA’s content across our site, our app, partner sites, and all other distribution platforms, including windowing strategies, recirculation strategies, launch strategies, brand presentation across platforms, and all other strategic distribution needs.
CREATIVE IDEATION
Consistently provide creative ideation and active story-telling that yield new, innovative, effective and high-quality editorial content.
Conceive, write, edit, top edit, and publish content and experiences -- regularly and at high volume -- that drive user engagement, without requiring additional development or video production, including but not limited to: thumbnail descriptions, newsletters, recaps, summaries, bios, articles, “listicles”, quizzes, polls, etc.
EDITORIAL OVERSIGHT
Program the site’s UX to maximize effectiveness, from the strategic macro level all the way down to each individual thumbnail, including image selection and creation, key art acquisition and selection, layout, and all copy.
Be 100% on top of quality control on the site/app. Catch and correct problems before they reach the user. Communicate problems, including status and solution, to senior staff in a timely manner.
DATA & OPTIMIZATION
Track site and digital offering performance. Create and lead infrastructure to mine all available data, extract strategic insights and apply to digital editorial strategy on a minute-by-minute basis.
Implement structure in which all editorial team members link their decisions to data and monitor success of their efforts in real time.
Combine data with personal awareness of latest industry/audience trends and cultural zeitgeist to constantly optimize USA’s offerings on a real-time basis.
ENGAGEMENT
Effectively utilize all available tools to drive engagement, including video, written content, email, SEO, affinity programs, contests, promotions, and external relationships and partnerships.
Partner with USA Social Team to radically increase engagement to USA properties driven by social, and radically increase USA content that goes viral. Make every piece of USA content easy (and highly incentive-ized) for the user to share.

•Must have proven track record with editorial ownership of at least one (ideally more than one) successful site
•Minimum 8 years of editorial experience in interactive media
•Minimum 2 years as a manager of digital editorial projects
•Obsessed with data and its strategic application to creative/editorial
•Proven ability to think creatively and handle multiple projects.
•Proven ability to learn and develop in new directions, propose and initiate creative solutions, desire to seek out possibilities and opportunities.
•Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure; quickly shift direction and scope of projects as needed to meet needs of the company; handle diverse projects.
