Position Summary
The Director of Business Systems Automation Unit is a senior level role with responsibility for aligning technology, information and process necessary to help Columbia Bank address its most complex business challenges while maintaining a competitive advantage in the marketplace. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer.


This role will work directly with executive and senior management and other key stakeholders such as third party vendors. Candidates must have a strong background in systems development/integration and automation and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consult with the Bank's business lines. The Candidate should have a demonstrated ability to build a strong functional team.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the management and integration/development of the Bank's core banking and related business systems
Oversee employee work performance; prepare performance evaluations; interview, hire, and terminate employees in accordance with established policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to develop and coach direct reports to achieve established performance objectives
Responsible for implementing complex business projects and work assignments supporting the Bank's strategy and objectives
Maintain awareness of technology trends and new developments
Provide internal consulting to the lines of business on issues related to innovation and automation
Work with the lines of business to identify areas of improvement along with alternative solutions
Assess proposed business systems and identify impact on current or planned resources
Manage vendor relationships supporting the department
Develop annual budget and monthly forecasts for department
Establish best practice methodologies to maintain the security and integrity of core data necessary to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
Work with other departments to ensure that defined service levels are being met on a consistent basis.
Respond to inquiries or refer inquiries to the appropriate department or person; exhibit the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved.
Responsible for administrating and documenting disaster recovery, contingency plans and test results for core systems and for the department
Perform a variety of written and verbal communication commensurate with a senior level position

Minimum Job Requirements
B.A./B.S. degree in CS, MIS, Math, Business Administration or other quantitative discipline and/or a minimum of ten (10) years successful job experience in a business systems development/integration
Five (5) or more years of managing projects as a team lead, business lead or project manager
Hands-on application development experience and/or relational DBMS's preferred
Well-developed analytical skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in business systems management
Advanced knowledge of banking regulations
Demonstrated effective training and mentoring skills
Demonstrated ability to define requirements, research alternatives and develop solutions that meet business needs.
Five (5) or more year's integration experience with enterprise level systems.

Ability to sit at a computer monitor for extended periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive finger, hand, and arm movements
Ability to lift up to 15lbs.
Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action
Ability to reach, squat, bend, and manually manipulate standard office equipment
Ability to drive to various locations
Ability to think critically and provide appropriate solutions
