Director - Business Improvement - Tesoro Corporation - Texas

Position Summary
This position will be filled at a level commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications.
This position supports the development and execution of Lean Six Sigma strategy through planning and management of continuous improvement, high impact initiatives utilizing Lean Six Sigma and organizational knowledge. This position also leads and directs cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities
Leads cross-functional teams in application of Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools to define and scope continuous improvement projects to achieve strategic objectives and drive breakthrough performance.
Collaborates with business unit leaders to quantify and assess project opportunities ensuring alignment to strategic plan and business objectives. Engages with department personnel in all levels of improvement work to inform and gain alignment.
Serves as change agent to communicate and institutionalize Lean Six Sigma methodology. Manages functional Lean Sigma deployment. Shares best practices. Champions continuous improvement of business efficiencies.
Monitors progress through measurement against defined milestones and key metrics. Communicates project status to project champions, functional leads and executive steering committee as necessary.
Coaches and mentors process improvement teams on Lean Six Sigma principles, methodologies and tools. Assists in delivering training for designations.

Education And Experience


Minimum undergraduate degree with a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required.
Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Black Belt facilitator required.
Demonstrated significant experience in planning and executing large projects with results totaling $40MM preferred.
Experience as an instructor of Lean Six Sigma courses preferred.
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification preferred.
