The Payor Relations Director is a position in the organization responsible for promoting company products with Payor customers to ensure favorable formulary access, coverage and reimbursement decisions for the company products enabling physicians to prescribe/use company products with minimal restrictions. This individual will report to the NA Director of Marketing for Mitek Sports Medicine, with dotted line relationship to WW Director of Early Intervention Marketing, they will work with the peer Payor Relations Directors, Reimbursement, Market Access and EI Marketing to develop an integrated program for Mitek to develop Payor relationships and ensure coverage for ORTHOVISC®High Molecular weight Hyaluronan and MONOVISC®High Molecular weight Hyaluronan as well as identify key Payors and/or other institutions for relationship building with Mitek. Payor market includes Specialty Pharmacy, Pharmacy Benefit Management, commercial, employer and government Payors. The major responsibility of the position is to manage specified Payors, discuss medical/technical issues with key opinion leaders, negotiate appropriate contracts and promote products to enable company to meet sales targets.
The Payor Relations Director will develop the core program to be used with Payors and customize the message for key Payors (where appropriate) as well as key messages on clinical outcomes, economic outcomes, and potential impact for the Payor given its subscriber base. This individual will establish and maintain good relationships with key decision-makers at the leading Payor institutions. He/she will also work to bring innovative approaches to supporting sales attainment, including developing new partnerships with Specialty Pharmacy programs, Wholesale Distributors and Employer groups
Working collaboratively with National Accounts, Marketing and Finance partners, the Payor Relations Director will develop models that help support decisions and action on contracting opportunities, while driving profitable sales opportunities. This individual will also work closely with Regional sales teams to ensure appropriate support is brought to local market needs, sales targets are achieved and education is delivered and they will serve as the first line of contact for all related issues in their assigned geography.
Responsibilities
Additionally, he/she will work closely with other J&J assets to help manage key customers, ensure that best practices are followed, and that opportunities for combined approaches to customers are identified. The Payor Relations Director is based in the Western US, and will be key point of contact for the western Sales organization and customers, as well as any cross enterprise opportunities that require regional support. Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned.
Job Function
National Accounts
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of total business experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of reimbursement experience or related experience in working in a Managed Care Environment is required. Experience in healthcare arena, with emphasis on pharmaceutical/medical device reimbursement, Payor relations, workers compensation and/or managed care is required. Potential candidates must have a solid understanding of key public and private Payor policy infrastructure, payment methodologies, coverage, health policy trends and current business challenges. A demonstrated experience negotiating and influencing Payor decision is required. Experience presenting scientific evidence and cost effectiveness data is highly desirable. Potential candidates must have excellent communication skills with emphasis on presentation skills as well as exemplary customer service skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities as needed. Must also have strong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs staff). Previous experience in working with MS Office Suite is preferred. This position requires a high level of interpersonal skills: influencing, resolving conflict, and creative problem solving, as well as strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and complete projects. Potential candidates must have proven ability to think strategically, with a strong customer focus.
This position requires up to 50% travel domestically and candidate should reside in the Western United States.
