Director - Organizational Development - REI - Kent


Job description
Our Director of Organizational Development contributes to REI’s belief in the broader social purpose of business by managing a team which provides organizational design and development solutions in support of REI’s business strategies. This may include strategic planning, organizational assessment, organization design and solution development, change facilitation and department management. Some of the Director’s responsibilities include:



• Establish and sustain the Organizational Development function and position it as a critical partner for achieving organizational goals

• Design and implement an employee engagement strategy that develops high-performing teams, enhances bench strength and retains key talent through succession planning, executive development, etc

• Facilitates the development of organizational strategy and vision in alignment with the business strategy

• Lead ongoing assessments of the organizational development needs of the Co-op as a whole and its functional units

• Initiate, support and facilitate endeavors to enhance business effectiveness through OD solutions based on structure, programs, processes, and systems aimed at optimizing the organization’s efforts to fulfill its mission

• Lead the design, development and implementation of programs, policies and strategies tailored to meet OD needs and program goals Facilitate/support/consult on organizational structure design and/or redesign efforts to ensure the realization of intended business objectives

• Act as REI’s key Organizational Development consultant by developing and maintaining a menu of Organizational Development solutions to support team and business effectiveness

• Lead effectiveness evaluations for all implemented OD solutions and utilize the findings to lead short- and long-term planning for OD programs

• Evaluate strategies and programs to measure the achievement of established goals

• Build credibility as a trusted business advisor

• Facilitate/lead change and transition efforts in various parts of the organization to ensure identified goals are fully achieved.

• Prepare budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources

• Collaborate across the Human Resource functions to ensure alignment of purpose and execution of the Organization Development department. Supervise a group of Sr. OD Specialists, each performing similar and/or interrelated tasks and activities across various client groups

Bring your passion and expertise
• 10+ years of experience in Human Resources as an OD practitioner (5 years as an OD leader within their organization)
• Master’s degree in Organizational Development/Organizational Behavior, Human Resources or related field

• Possesses expert-level competencies common to a Director of OD, including: strategic planning, organizational assessment, organizational design, OD solutions, change facilitation, technology utilization and capacity management

• Experience directing organizational change management practices within a large, multi-location organization
