Director - Engineering - Honeywell - Albuquerque


Job description
Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Honeywell Aerospace has an immediate opening for an experienced Engineering Director to join the Electronic Systems Engineering and Applications (ESEA) Center of Excellence (COE). This is a band 4 senior level leadership position.
The Engineering Director will report to the Vice President of the Electronics Systems Engineering and Applications (ESEA) and will be accountable for leading all aspects of Military Electronic Systems and Applications (MESA) execution. Program responsibilities include the System Project Engineering and Application Systems Engineering for Military Aircraft and Unmanned Air Systems.


Responsibilities
Drive project management execution and process improvements within ESEA and across ESEA engineering development programs.
Work closely with the Defense and Space business organization and provide the interface between the business segments and electronics engineering.
Management and oversight of complex, large scale integrated system development.
Establish and execute a staffing and employee development strategy in partnership with the Electronic Centers of Excellence and Engineering Test Services organizations. Includes staffing, census management, training, skill development and university relationships/hiring for the multiple locations to accomplish program and functional goals.
Partner with both the Marketing & Product Management organization and the Customer Business Teams to establish and deploy strategic direction for advanced core technologies, program pursuits, and program execution.
Establish and execute global engineering framework strategy for MESA.
Build collaborative external partnerships to support development program execution and growth strategy.
Participate in and deploy One-Aero Engineering and Aerospace tool, process, and Velocity Product Development™ initiatives within the organization.
Planning and management of program schedules, capital budget, staffing, program spend vs budget, and department budget expenses for successful planning and execution of both the Annual Operating Plan and the Long.-Term Strategic Plan.
Work closely with senior leadership and external customer executives in setting program and business strategies and execution oversight.
Responsible for direct leadership of approximately 220 employees in Albuquerque and Puerto Rico. Overall MESA Project Engineering accountability includes cost, schedule and technical performance for all work packages including those executed by the Electronics Center of Excellence and Engineering Test Services.
Proactively team with Marketing & Product Management, other business segments, Integrated Supply Chain, and other Aero functions in formulating product strategies.
Remove barriers to team execution through broad cross-functional influence.
Communicates engineering / corporate business objectives, vision, and strategies to technical community and engineering.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
Minimum 12 years of experience in engineering development or related roles.
Due to export restrictions applicants must be a U.S. citizen.

Additional Qualifications
Master of Business Administration desired.
Significant project management experience with demonstrated ability to drive project management results and continuous improvement.
Ability to create and sustain an environment that promotes good communications and candid feedback.
Enlists and gains widespread internal support for change and improvement initiatives.
Effective advocate to corporate leadership for engineering needs teams across functions and businesses to meet corporate objectives.
Ability to negotiate critical and complex issues with customers and other organizations.
Strong communication skills in order to provide project updates for critical/key programs to senior internal and external leadership and engage employees in strategic initiatives.
Background in and understanding of Military Aircraft and Unmanned Air Systems business, programs and products.
Demonstrated leadership, program management and project engineering skills.
Leadership capability and ability lead and influence technical and management community.
