The role of the Director, Technology – Asset Management is responsible for the management of onsite and offsite (Bingham Farms & Ann Arbor MI) high performance development and support teams. This position works continuously with peers and management on the executive team to craft strategic business plans which are leveraged to determine priorities for upcoming development initiatives. This role is also responsible for ensuring the tactical execution of strategic objectives as they relate to software design, development and delivery. The Director, Technology - Asset Management is fiscally responsible for a working departmental budget of 5+ million dollars annually.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the development of IP&S’s next generation platform, the successful candidate will:
• Actively participate in developing a clear Asset Management Technology strategy, including development and operational standards that create a robust technical environment.
• Lead major technology changes and initiatives in a manner that will enable the overall Technology Function and the Asset Management business to achieve its long-term objectives.
• Work with technical operations and subject matter experts across the business to turn product ideas into reality.
• Ensure/Enforce the Integrity of solution delivery and quality process(es).
• Work with development and support teams to evolve product solutions.
• Communicate the overall Technology vision, goals and roles for the Asset Management team.
• Deliver performance management through day-to-day direction and feedback to direct reports in a way that boosts employee morale and engagement. Ignite a culture centered around feedback and recognition. Proactively manages individual skill and career development of direct reports.
• Employ influence and negotiation skills to identify and resolve resource bottlenecks and potential resource alignment problems within the department and across the organization.
• Interfacing with client(s) and client management teams to manage scope, expectations, and deliverables.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Background in computer science, information technology or software engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in the information technology field.
• 5+ years of experience effectively managing teams of 30 people or larger, preferably within a highly-matrixed organization where resource decisions are made in cooperation with other business stakeholders.
• Intellectual Property experience is a plus.
• Practical business knowledge. Strong technical acumen to help shape and drive the fundamental technical aspects of this product/service.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex development projects.
• High level of understanding of technology trends and the technology used within the industry by clients and vendors.
• Ability to evaluate and recommend technical alternatives and knowledge of emerging technologies.
• Charismatic leader with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with business partners internally and externally to Technology.
• Proven ability to effectively manage change in a technology department, including skills to mentor staff.
• Achievement in planning, directing and implementing projects on time and within budget.
• Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients and peers.
• Demonstrated results in team building, coaching, mentoring and motivating people managers and their teams.
• 15% travel required, to include domestic and international.
