Job description
Position Summary:
PASA is seeking a Director, Advanced Quality. This position is responsible for leading the Advance Quality Team to develop and execute advanced quality plans and processes to ensure the Company’s best practices and standards are employed for all product developed for PASA customers globally. Launches products globally using unique Early Detection / Early Response (EDER) team / Safe Launch processes at or above current operational and quality targets.
Job Responsibilities:
GLOBAL
Develops and manages interfaces with global quality assurance and global manufacturing to ensure best practices are known and captured and employed on all new products.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT/LESSONS LEARNED
Change agent of continuous improvement.
Owns, creates, and continuously improves the product development process, and all elements that ensure quality is designed in to meet manufacturing capability at the supplier and manufacturing plants - and receiving customer plants.
Develops risk maturity Green/Yellow/Red ratings for quality elements and ensure their linkage to the program dashboard and provide leadership to address identified risks.
Develops metrics to ensure lessons learned are all incorporated on all new products, processes, and suppliers. Develops change point methodology to focus on the development and prove out (design margins and process capabilities) for future bookshelf.
Assists in the creation of a lessons learned database.
Helps lead the deployment of the new processes within Panasonic and AIS globally.
Ensures new lessons learned are communicated back to benefit all Panasonic.
LEADERSHIP/CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Creates a culture of leadership and ownership. Be a change agent and a visible leader.
Creates a Quality Operating System to meet regularly with the product teams to coach and mentor expectations.
Develops quality deliverables for the change management process to ensure all the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) quality disciplines are updated and reviewed for quality of event.
Ensures communication to the suppliers and plants to understand change and purging of obsolete materials.
Helps lead necessary change to quality documents and procedures.
ADVANCED ENGINEERING QUALITY ASSURANCE
Leads and manages the Advance Engineering Quality Group.
Enriches the design review and validation processes – ensuring lessons learned on programs are shared across all new programs worldwide for PASA Customers – and Globally to Japan.
Develops plans to train engineers in statistical quality tools and Designed For Six Sigma.
Ensures standards for customers are being satisfied – ensure all test discrepancy reports are closed out. Employs agile to enter and track till closure – provide monthly reports.
Develops the Advanced Quality team’s quality skills and technical capability.
ADVANCED MANUFACTURING QUALITY ASSURANCE
Leads and manages the Advanced Manufacturing Quality group.
Identifies change points in the processes and secures Japan’s support to deliver fully capable APQP processes on time for the programs.
Develops and executes manufacturing quality metrics to ensure risks are identified and assist in the planning to mitigate these.
Provides plant quality support globally to be aware of any quality issues affecting the Plants real time – and provides global assistance to resolve.
LAUNCHES
Leads and manages the EDER / Safe Launch Teams.
Identifies and assesses launch support needs globally for PASA products and customers – in every region. Assists in the formation of launch teams with clear Repeatability & Reproducibility and reporting.
Develops on site Root Cause Analysis at/near the customer’s location.
Delivers flawless launches and provide lessons learned to benefit future products and launches.
Responsible for ISM management as part of the management of staff members, their work and workplace.
Responsible for the management of information security as part of the normal management of the business. Must cooperate with the Company ISM professionals in implementing the information security policies within the Company, and ensures that information is handled in compliance with the Global ISM related regulations.
Interprets and complies with Company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and other statistical information.
Initiates, recommends, and provides solutions through designated channels.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
Required Experience:
Four-year college degree in business, management, operations, engineering, technology or quality related field required.
Ten (10) years previous experience in the "applicable" field.
Five (5) years successful experience at a senior manager/group manger level.
Must have good understanding of quality approaches.
Technical knowledge of ICS type product.
Technical knowledge of Electronics Manufacturing processes.
Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
Brown/green belt required.
Knowledge of OEM Customer quality systems preferred.
Experience in the automotive electronics industry required.
Must have experience in the design of electronics modules- software intense automotive products developed with compressed timing.
Must have experience working in a senior manufacturing position in an Electronics Manufacturing Plant.
Bi-lingual English-Japanese or English-Spanish verbal and written communication skills preferred.
Proficiency with the computer applications appropriate to the position and assignment.
