Senior Director - Global Strategic Sourcing for Marketing - Visa - Foster City
Job description
Position Summary
The Global Sourcing organization manages the efficient procurement of goods and services for Visa globally while minimizing the risk of using third party suppliers. Global Sourcing provides best in class sourcing and purchasing card solutions while leveraging industry best practices. Roles in this organization evaluate, select, monitor and maintain relationships with suppliers. Role will also perform analysis of purchasing needs, including analysis of costs and performance and forecast supply requirements, and negotiate pricing, discounts, and contracts.
Job Scope
This is an integrating manager role within a function or sub-function. This role provides leadership to managers or senior professional staff and influences strategy to address internal or external business and regulatory issues.
Responsibilities
Build and enhance relationships with senior management of the business unit/Visa stakeholders and develop sourcing strategies to meet their requirements while managing risks and achieving cost efficiencies for Visa.
Manage suppliers and plan for the use of suppliers in connection with implementation of business strategies and goals.
Lead and facilitate supplier selection and highly complex contract negotiations, involving Legal and other departments as necessary, to achieve favorable terms on quality, delivery and price, ensure end-user needs are met and deliver substantial cost savings on a consistent basis. Draft changes to contracts and amendments as required.
Lead a team responsible for conducting various highly complex analysis, including opportunity assessments for selecting spend categories to source, market, benchmark and spend analysis, category and supplier cost models and savings potential for opportunities and strategies.
Develop strategies to address the challenges of international sourcing such as regulatory practices/government requirements, cross-cultural business practices, economic and political risk factors, language and communication.
Ensure that Global Sourcing enhances its buying power based on activities across all areas, leveraging Visa's global buying power and ensuring improvement opportunities at all times.
Identify future procurement opportunities to further procurement strategies by analyzing opportunities and conducting assessments for selecting spend categories to source.
Evaluate and minimize risks associated with global sourcing such as currency exchange rate fluctuations, duties, taxes, payment terms, lead time and country-specific market dynamics.
Regional Specific Global Sourcing Roles
Lead a high performing team of senior managers or senior professionals responsible for proactively managing supplier relationships in defined region/sub-regions to obtain best value for money and enhanced services for Visa.
Develop and direct implementation of regional and sub-regional sourcing strategies in alignment with overall corporate sourcing strategies and lead sourcing initiatives for the regional/sub-regional offices.
Work closely with Global Sourcing teams in developing specifications, sourcing strategies and supplier negotiation strategies for global procurements.
Serve as the primary interface for Global Sourcing on all audit issues affecting Sourcing in applicable region and sub-region.
Evaluate and develop strategies to minimize risks associated with global sourcing such as currency exchange rate fluctuations, duties, taxes, payment terms, lead time and country-specific market dynamics.
Corporate Specific Strategic Sourcing Roles
Lead a high performing team of senior managers or senior professionals responsible for proactively managing supplier relationships in defined categories to obtain best value for money and enhanced services for Visa.
Develop and direct implementation of category sourcing and lead sourcing initiatives for particular commodities and/or services.
Lead global sourcing teams in developing specifications, sourcing strategies and supplier negotiation strategies for global procurements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced business or legal degree preferred;
Requires a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible sourcing/vendor management experience with a minimum of 5 years management experience preferred
Ten or more years of Marketing Sourcing experience, including: hardware, software and services
Ten years of global category management experience, preferably in support of marketing categories
Extensive experience in contract negotiations and drafting required.
Excellent planning and organization skills and business judgment, including the ability to anticipate the impact of decisions/initiatives.
Demonstrated project management skills with ability to drive consensus in cross regional and cross functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high performing team.
Superior analytical, financial modeling and problem solving skills.
Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions, manage uncertainty and anticipate the impact of decisions/initiatives.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, interpersonal and presentation skills and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
Previous sourcing experience managing complex relationships. Experience in international agreements and outsourcing highly preferred.
Familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements.
