Director - Strategic Marketing - Applied Materials - Santa Clara


Job description
Recognized as an external thought leader within a strategic function or discipline. Influences the strategy to address internal or external business and regulatory issues. Proactively identifies and solves the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. May participate in the development of the product or business strategy. Leads multidisciplinary projects or initiatives. Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of individual capabilities and business requirements.


TECHNICAL MARKETING KEY CHARTER
Performs competitive and industry marketing intelligence; dispose trends and learnings throughout organization.
Center of excellence for technical communications for all marketing and customer facing roles.
Develops strategic plan for corporate marketing and strategy function; influences strategy to address internal / external needs.
Develops customer value proposition framework and content.
Develops aligned strategy, roadmap and content for external positioning across groups via various communication vehicles (customer, media, IR, industry events, marketing campaign).
Technical communications focusing on the development of effective positioning / messaging to promote company’s visibility as technology leader in enabling industry and inflections; highlights our core competencies and differentiated products / technologies; creates hierarchal positioning / messaging across business units, field, and functions; develops / delivers technical content for internal and external customers; strengthens the positioning of company and our products to enable rapid and preferential adoption of our technologies in support of company’s growth objectives.
New product launches: collaborates with business units to develop positioning / messaging for tradepress, investors, and customers; highlights product values to address customers' high value problems as well as end market high value problems.
Performs technical / market analysis on trends and inflections across value chain.
Internal and external communications to executives, customers, analysts, etc.
Proactively identifies opportunities to drive technical marketing functional excellence.

Qualifications

Education
Minimum: BS in technical discipline and 10 years of industry experience
Preferred: MS, MBA with 12 years of industry experience with some supervisory/management experience

Experience
Technical marketing and strategic marketing experience
Semiconductor experience preferred
