Director - Professional Services Operations - VMware - San Francisco


Job Description
The Director of Professional Services Operations reports directly to the Sr. Director of Americas Strategy & Operations. The Director of PSO Operations influences the strategic impact of PSO within the organization by leading Professional Services operational initiatives across multiple functions within VMware. In doing so, the Director of PSO Operations will drive meaningful operational improvements and partner with the field to create a more transparent, predictable, productive, agile, and aligned operating environment. The Director of PSO Operations will build a team to support growth and maturity around the Professional Services organization.


Key Focus Areas Include

•Customer: Maximization of VMware's focus on Customer-Centricity / Quality / Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement / Cost-Effectiveness
•Results: Achievement of strategic/customer priorities and financial commitments
•Business and Operational Process: Establishment, execution, and optimization of key (1) operational strategies/deliverables and (2) cadence/processes that drive the day-to-day operations of VMware towards achievement of customer priorities and financial commitments

Operational Strategies/Deliverables

•Collaborate with key management across VMware on development, prioritization, and execution of key operational strategies/deliverables
•End-to-End Internal Initiatives (Roll-out of new processes and systems)
•Establish and provide pivotal metrics and analysis that will drive decision making
•Develop revenue and margin models to provide management foresight at Americas level for the PSO Organization
•Foster process consistency among regions and drive out best practices across the consulting PSO organization
•Assist the VP in cases of escalations, particularly as it relates to Customer issues that impact business operations
•Assist in performing opportunity and contract review and approval
•Leverage industry best-practices from operational strategies/deliverables into the daily operational culture, cadence, and processes (strategy, budgeting, revenue recognition, resource allocation, processes, etc.) of VMware
•Recommend and drive changes to our cadence and processes

Job Requirements

•10+ yrs. experience in Operations within a software company
•Demonstrated hands-on operational skill and initiative in strategically framing operational issues and ensuring action
•Ability to effectively communicate, lead, plan, and manage transformational change based on a clear end-state vision and pragmatic understanding of how to get there strategically, tactically, and organizationally
•Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive clarity as appropriate
•Highly numerate and analytical mindset for conceptualizing and defining solutions to operational issues
•Ability to easily traverse between strategic frameworks and deep operational details across a wide range of business areas / topics
•Operational credibility far and wide in organization, based on deep and broad hands-on experience in a variety of different roles, functions, and companies
•Strong organizational / prioritization skills
•Experience at both startups and established companies
•Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
•Ability to both ruthlessly drive results and ensure process elegance, transparency, quality, repeatability, and scalability
•Ability to lead a team to drive discipline and accountability for the function inside the Americas PSO team

Education

Bachelor’s Degree Required
Master Degree or Equivalent Preferred
