The Bluetooth SIG oversees the development of the member driven Bluetooth specifications and is responsible for creating and managing the processes and tools that member companies use to build and qualify their products as well as providing a common marketing platform for the technology. Members range from leading high-tech companies to small, innovative start-ups, all of them looking to take advantage of the fastest growing wireless technology in the industry.
We are seeking a passionate, highly motivated, technical and talented Director of Systems Engineering with experience in leading and motivating small agile Engineering teams.
You will manage a growing team of software professionals whose responsibilities include a wide variety of tools and services that the SIG provides to members and non-members. This leader will help drive all operational aspects of the teams from idea to implementation.
The candidate will have a key role in helping to shape Bluetooth systems as we continue to scale the organization to service a very rapidly growing market.

Roles and Responsibilities
Manage team of software professionals that include Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Project Managers and Business Analysts
Own the continuous improvement of the development process of delivery for teams
Promote and implement development best practices, delivering a strong development process that ensures high quality and on time delivery
Work with Architects and Product Management on Technical Strategy and Roadmap
Own scheduling and on-time delivery throughout the software development lifecycle
Help with the prioritization of Engineering activities and available resources (including risk mitigation) to meet the needs of our members and organization
Encourage, empower, motivate and mentor team members to maximize their abilities
Conduct weekly one on one meetings with team members
Manage relationships with external contributors and technology partners
Participate in the selection and management of external (offshore/contract) resources as needed
Perform status reporting for development, deployment, and maintenance
Manage all team budgeting responsibilities
Responsible for support and maintenance for 24x7 web properties including response to outages within SLAs
Management of multiple projects simultaneously
Responsible for attracting and maintaining high-level talent, terminating, compensation and performance evaluations

Desired Skills and Experience
Skills and Requirements
15+ years in the software engineering industry
7 years of experience in managing software professionals
Strong track record of building and managing high-performing development teams
Strong background in Agile methodologies and Lean Practices
Proven track record of delivering highly scalable web applications in complex deployment environments
Proven experience with projects where test and build automation played a critical role
Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multitask and work in an aggressive, deadline-oriented environment
Software Development coding background and proven history as individual contributor in career
Track record of building accountable, loyal and collaborative teams that are built to last
Willingness, passion and desire to ‘wear many hats’ in a small but influential organization
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Recommended Qualifications
Software development background with Microsoft technologies and tools
Understanding of Bluetooth wireless technology
