GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for overall taxation of international operations including: US and foreign tax accounting and forecasting for matters affecting international operations, international operational tax planning and strategy, international tax compliance and audits, and transfer pricing policies and procedures
Primary Job Responsibilities:
External and Internal Financial Reporting
Ensures the tax impacts of our international operations are properly reflected in our SEC and foreign financial reporting
Manages the effective tax rate of international operations and forecasts and provides analysis of accrued and cash taxes on international operations for internal management reporting
Reports on international tax exposures and valuation allowances
Directs tax accounting of international operations in a SOX compliant environment
International Tax Planning
Develops international tax planning initiatives by applying knowledge of our business, U.S. international tax laws, foreign tax laws and tax treaties to minimize withholding taxes, foreign taxes, and U.S. taxes on foreign income
Monitors international tax developments (e.g., legislation, regulations, changes in business operations) and create tax planning initiatives necessary to either take advantage of the changes or limit the exposure and communicate the potential impact on the company
Communicates and educates business partners on international tax rules and procedures and on how to make accounting, treasury and other operations more efficient and effective
Advises on and assists in tax planning and strategy development involving M&A activities, investments, borrowings, international expansion and implements resulting planning
Assists in developing transfer pricing structures for new initiatives and modifying existing structures as the business evolves
Prepares technical memorandums in support of positions
Tax Compliance
Oversees all tax filings and audits relating to international operations
Managing and training staff
Manages the international tax team in multiple locations worldwide
Enhance the tax technical competencies and career development of the international tax organization
Builds and fosters relationships across functions and businesses
Takes an active role in departmental leadership
Ensures work is completed with quality and process efficiency/process improvement in mind
Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Tax required
Advanced degree preferred
JD, LLM or CPA required
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10 years of experience in International Tax
Proven ability to research and communicate technical tax issues clearly to non-tax people and work effectively across all levels of internal process owners and external advisors
Success leading an international tax team with staff in multiple locations worldwide
Strong leadership, communication, presentation and project management skills
In-depth knowledge of ASC 740 and of U.S. International tax laws, including Subpart F, FTC, transfer pricing and foreign currency
Experience using OneSource, SAP and HFM a plus but not required
