Director - Infrastructure Architecture & Services - Pacific Life - Omaha


Job description
Currently, we are seeking a talented AVP of Infrastructure Architecture and Services to join the Retirement Solutions Division in Omaha, NE. The Retirement Solutions Division (RSD) leverages its strengths in product development, technology, service and risk management to create retirement solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. With the guidance of financial professionals, customers have access to an array of annuities and mutual funds designed to help grow assets and to provide retirement income for financial independence.

POSITION SUMMARY
The AVP of Infrastructure Architecture and Services provides vision and leadership to RSD’s Infrastructure Architecture, Innovation, and Cloud Integration team. Additionally, the AVP is a key member of the RSD Technology management team and supports the leadership team on policy, personnel, and technology issues. Other key responsibilities include:
- Serves as a liaison between Infrastructure Services and Application Development teams to ensure mutual understanding and alignment. Represents Infrastructure Services on Technology Department architectural committees.

- Participates with other RSD Technology leaders to partner with the Corporate Information Technology Department (CIT).
- Helps communicate divisional requirements and understand CIT perspectives in order to build consensus.
- Provides vision and leadership to the Collaboration Services team and ensures the division’s collaboration technology e.g., GoToMeeting, Lync, and ShareFile meet business needs.
- Through a Service Desk Manager, provides vision and oversight to the RSD Technology Service Desk. Ensures that the Service Desk is meeting service level expectations. Ensures that metrics are being communicated to senior Technology management, and that overall efficiency and service quality are continually improving.
- Under the direction of the AVP of Technology, serves as Incident Coordinator during system outages and business continuity events. In collaboration with AppDev, Infrastructure, and business areas, develops and maintains incident response and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensures RSD’s adherence to company disaster recovery policies and standards. Coordinates quarterly divisional disaster recovery testing. Represents RSD on the enterprise’s Business Resumption Group (BRG).
- Collaborates with Technology management peers to provide site leadership for Technology staff based in the Omaha office.
- Through leadership, builds morale and a sense of unified team amongst the Omaha Technology staff.
- Ensures cultural and policy alignment between Omaha and Newport Beach offices.
- Is attentive to and escalates issues related to the Omaha Technology staff’s efficiency, needs, morale and culture.
- Builds close relationships with Omaha business peers in Operations and Internal Wholesaling to understand their Technology needs, issues, and plans.

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS
* Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience architecting and managing technology infrastructure in a large corporate environment.
* Must have strong leadership, relationship building, and consensus building skills.
* Must be comfortable working in a matrix organization.
* Should have experience with cloud technologies including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
* Must have a drive for innovation and constant improvement.
* Must have ability to collaboratively envision and design reference architectures based on business value, gain consensus, and then drive the vision to completion.
* Should have a minimum of 10 years of people leadership experience.
* A relevant degree from a four-year college or equivalent work experience.
