Director - Email Marketing - Warner Bros. Entertainment Group of Companies - Burbank


Job description
Warner Bros. Digital offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and creative individual interested in pioneering the future of the studio’s email marketing program. The Director of Email Marketing should be an expert in the area of database marketing and have a comprehensive understanding of consumer intelligence, list segmentation, A/B testing, creative development (responsive design principles), goal setting, analytics, presentation development & delivery. S/he will manage a team and coordinate with various business units across the studio and vendors to plan and execute campaigns.

Key to success in this position is an understanding of how targeted email marketing can drive greater consumption of WB’s entertainment products (theatrical releases, DVDs/Digital, TV shows, VIP Studio Tour, Comic books, Collectibles, Videogames, Mobile apps, branded apparel). The Director will collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across creative, marketing, business, legal, technical and finance.


•End to end campaign planning including strategy, creative development, segmentation, list pulls, QA, asset trafficking, execution and reporting.
•Lead enterprise and by-client strategic planning to address underlying business objectives and maximize campaign KPIs.
•Oversee campaign roadmap for the studio (mixture of self-service and full-service).
•Own the commercial relationship with the Email Service Provider, such as Exact Target, and maintain reporting on platform usage vs contracted levels. Identify opportunities to leverage new/updated tools. Help self-service clients troubleshoot and/or guide them to proper resources at the ESP.
•Collaborate with Operations manager on developing and tracking progress against the CRM product roadmap.
•Manage direct report(s) who are primarily responsible for assigned clients/campaigns.
•Partner with internal stakeholders and external agency partners to explore and leverage all available marketing channels to boost overall email campaign effectiveness via acquisition programs designed to capture customer/prospect opt-ins and demographic/psychographic/behavioral data. Acquisition points could include leveraging social media, websites, strategic partnerships, retail channels, mobile, customer service, events, search, etc.
•Work with clients to identify consumer intelligence needs. Collaborate with the Consumer Intelligence team to deliver actionable insights from WB’s data repository(ies).
•Provide email marketing support for primary research projects and/or share email campaign insights to enrich research analyses.
•Serve as a CRM (email marketing) champion throughout Warner Bros. and lead/participate in activities that foster an understanding and adoption of data driven marketing.
•Drive process improvement and resource alignment for efficiency and quality control
•Drive business requirements, help secure funding and work with internal/external teams to oversee the implementation of evolving CRM infrastructure and tools needed to achieve Global CRM vision (e.g. marketing database, campaign management tool, results dashboards, product registration, social media integration, etc.).
•Manage external and internal marketing partner relationships including outside vendors and agencies.
•Keep up to speed on the competitive marketplace, follow trends in CRM / Email marketing and relevant supporting marketing channels (e.g. social media, push messaging, etc.) & integrate those learnings into strategic vision, product plans and day-to-day executions.

Desired Skills and Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree required with Major/Minor in Marketing, Business or related field, preferred. MBA strongly preferred.
•Must have 7-10 years in relevant email marketing, CRM or Direct Marketing positions.
•In-depth/working knowledge of CRM/Data Warehouse and BI tools and technologies as well as developing and working with customer segmentation models.
•In-depth working knowledge of industry-leading email marketing tools, analytics and business intelligence providers.
•Experience managing projects within cross-functional teams.
•Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
•Campaign Management: Extensive experience and proven success planning and executing email marketing campaigns, end to end. Must be very results oriented. Experience working at a top tier Email Service Provider (particularly Exact Target) and/or leading CRM team at a studio is a big plus.
•DM Strategic Planning: Seasoned in Direct Marketing strategic planning (e.g. writing strategic vision decks, leveraging results/data analytics, integrated marketing plans, testing plans, research studies, etc.).
•Client Service: Excellent client service skills & project management skills (e.g. managing to timelines & budgets, setting expectations, sharing knowledge, etc.).
•Research/Analytics: Experience steering quantitative/qualitative research projects, consumer insights/data mining, statistical modeling, segmentation analysis, campaign performance reporting, etc. Experience using analytics and/or Business Intelligence tools like Tableau, Business Objects, Crystal Reports or SQL preferred.
•Agency/Vendor Management: Experience hiring, managing & directing the efforts of outside Marketing Services agencies and support vendors (e.g. email service providers, creative agencies, database development companies, etc.).
•Cross-Team Management: Experience in working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment, ability to effectively partner with other business leaders and cross-functional teams in order to deliver on business goals. Flexible and responsive; able to perform in a fast paced, dynamic work environment and meet aggressive deadlines.
•Leadership: Experience overseeing and growing skills with multiple direct reports.
•Technical: Not required but BIG plus if candidate has hands-on experience with creative tools such as Photoshop and Dreaweaver and/or has facility with HTML. Microsoft Excel expertise is also desired.
