Director - Product Management - AOL - New York

Role:
AOL.com and the AOL Lifestyle Brands are looking for a Director of Product with superb leadership skills, and the drive to create new experiences in our product portfolio. As part of the AOL.com and Lifestyle team, this individual will help manage a team through multiple new product initiatives, coordinate multiple stakeholder groups involved in the product lifecycle, provide research/analysis with competitive & emerging technologies, support the Vice President of Product and define product requirements to create the best possible user experience across our portfolio, including AOL.com, as well as the Lifestyle portfolio of MAKERS, Kitchen Daily, StyleList and StyleMePretty.
About you:

As the Director of Product Management, you will lead a team of Product Managers to execute against the strategy for a broad range of consumer products and build the best brands that serve AOL’s users.


In this role, you will do everything from brainstorming features to customer/competitor research to wire framing to developing specifications to working closely with developers while driving stakeholder engagement.
Strong business judgment, understanding of current web trends and technologies, knowledge of product management best practices, and a keen focus on user engagement are essential. You are someone with a passion and obsession for building world-class products and experiences with your eye for detail, and know how to translate these qualities into winning Internet products and services.

Responsibilities:
Understand and analyze usage of our desktop sites, mobile applications, and mobile web in regards to user engagement, retention and monetization
Support the Vice President of Product in project meetings, creative workshops, design reviews, product kick-offs, weekly product status, and project wrap-ups
Identify market requirements for new and existing mobile products that will differentiate AOL from competitors and drive increased adoption of AOL’s mobile offering
Detail and document use cases, product requirements, user stories, wireframes, and project wrap-ups for B2C mobile products
Coordinate between engineering, design, analytics, advertising and QA to ensure smooth product releases
Define tasks, resources and time required to complete medium to large size projects, including phased approaches
Gain cooperation and commitment for other employees on multi-disciplined projects
Concept and execute tactical marketing plans with limited support/finance to help support activation with new and updated product releases
Market and Competitive research and analysis
Organize the mobile roadmap with internal and external teams such as design, development, sales and editorial
Closely monitor new market trends and product partners that will augment projects

Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
BA/BS, Graduate degree preferred
Technical background preferred. Technical expertise is required (self taught is will be considered)
At least five years of product management experience within a test-driven online technology company
At least two years of experience managing a team of Product Managers
Knowledge of web technologies and experienced in agile methodology
Ability to write clear and concise project requirement documents
Proven track record for building or managing products or product initiatives from ideation to execution to launch
Ability to juggle multiple (4-6 at any given time) projects effectively
Exceptional executive presence and the ability to clearly articulate a strategy
Solid understanding of user engagement, business goals and competitive pressures and the ability to convert those into product requirements and priorities
Previous experience working within a consumer content business preferred
Previous experience with web search preferred
Experience working in an environment with multiple CMS’ that require consolidation and coordination preferred
Past project work with responsive design is a plus but not required
Experience conceptualizing and implementing products across multiple platforms and devices
Understanding of iAB advertising standards, best practices, and video advertising
Prior experiences working with Ad Sales departments
Excellent written and oral communication skills; superior organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-tech, rapidly growing and exciting environment
Team-player, self-managed and fast-learner. Team-player is extremely important to the group.
Experience working in start-up environment and possess an entrepreneurial spirit
