Director - District Development - Ygrene Energy Fund - San Francisco
Job description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Regional Director responsible for District Development activities in Northern California specifically focused on the Greater Sacramento Region including, but not limited to, Butte, El Dorado, Sacramento, Solano and Yolo counties. This territory may also include all or part of the North Bay (Marin, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma counties), East Bay (Alameda and Contra Costa counties) and potentially down to San Jose and across to the Central Valley (i.e. Fresno).
The primary objectives are to expand the geographic area in which Ygrene can offer its products, increase the potential value of project financings in existing districts, and secure contract extensions with the most favorable terms.
Success in this position will be defined by the number of new SB 555-based districts formed and validated along with the total population, amount of commercial square footage, level of energy costs and other related factors that determine the ultimate value of these districts. There will also be specific goals tied to securing contract and hearing report changes that benefit Ygrene and the level of engagement resulting in strong, productive government relations with both staff and elected officials.
Ideal candidates should have a recent track record of successful government contract procurement, consultation on legislative affairs and political advocacy. A high level of aptitude within the project management discipline is crucial to successfully orchestrating district formation that requires leading a collection of individuals, not an actual team, from multiple disciplines including public policy, legal, financial and energy-related fields. In order to successfully lead these efforts, candidates will need to be comfortable working independently from Corporate HQs, thrive in a start-up environment and take charge of day-to-day activities in the field.
Key responsibilities include:
Establish, strengthen and maintain relationships with appropriate staff and officials of local and state government agencies and related organizations including energy and water utilities.
Communicate the Ygrene message, including features and benefits, in each target area by executing a wide variety of activities.
Influence public policy through creative messaging, participation in various forums, etc.
Tailor Ygrene proposals for target jurisdictions in response to official solicitations (i.e. RFPs, RFQs, RFIs) as well as unsolicited situations.
Lead and/or actively participate in the successful negotiation of Third Party Administration (TPA) agreements and other documents required of the district formation and validation processes.
Manage a budget and track performance against goals as well as provide monthly activity reports for assigned territories.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
BA/BS degree or equivalent.
Political and/or public policy advocacy background with an emphasis on energy and environmental issues or programs.
5+ years demonstrated successful experience with program development or management within the energy, real estate or finance industries.
Must have an understanding of legal concepts particularly related to real estate and property tax issues and a demonstrated familiarity with contracts.
An energy efficiency or renewable energy background with a solid knowledge of various technologies and practices is strongly desired.
Experience translating and communicating technical messages for diverse audiences is essential.
Technical Skills:
Computer literate; experience with MS Office applications.
Ability to utilize and become expert with Ygrene’s proprietary software, and deliver demonstrations a plus.
