Senior Director - Digital Product Management - Alliance Data Retail Services - Columbus


Job description
The Senior Director of Digital Product Management Leader will focus on identification of strategic initiatives to grow retail business for our clients. He/She will work across a variety of Alliance Data clients as well as with internal support teams in client sales, marketing, and product teams. This role will lead efforts in Digital & Mobile Capabilities specific to: Business Development, Incubation, Digital, Mobile, Consumer Tools, and Brand Tools.
This role will also articulate the overall vision and guide development efforts of digital / mobile applications and In-Store technologies (Wallet / payment technologies) overall disruptive technologies.
The Digital Marketing Leader will report to the VP, Marketing Capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead/manage the process of ideation and manage process that responds to:
-Strategic growth plans of the Retail Services business related to digital & mobile offerings.
-Strategic product marketing development, support services, opportunities, and trend identification.
-Internal (and external) idea generation around Payment technology, Mobile Wallet, Geo Fencing, Beacon Technology, Digital / Mobile Marketing strategy.


Partners closely with strategic business development team, technology innovation team, client teams, financial and analytical teams in order to potentially drive new client opportunities, partnerships, capabilities, products, shared offerings or services and / or acquisitions.
Gain Retail Services Executive Committee approval on most viable post-pilot commercialization efforts.

Manages team process for executing research that discovers consumers articulated and unarticulated needs, motivations, pain points, reactions to new product concepts and willingness to adopt prospective features that align with our business model.
Leads trending analysis to uncover emerging patterns and business opportunities. Gathers voice of the customer to supplement internal idea generation. Embraces research through client and consumer insights, unarticulated consumer needs, macro-economic trends and new technologies.
Partners with internal, external and third parties sources for consumer research and analytics
Leads the development effort to articulate a fact-based point of view on key research findings and trends to the Retail Executive and Senior Leadership teams that will drive growth for Retail.
Responsible for developing and managing multiple project priorities & cross functional teams.
Priorities will be established through the development of business cases (or through then vetting of business cases) combined with experiential knowledge of "what works".
Proven ability to get new concepts into pilot/prototype phases and then into production.
Skill in creating and delivering innovation processes for filtering, prototyping, piloting and quantifying new business concepts.
Interpret market trends and consumer insights into actionable business ideas that drive growth.

Leadership:
Develop, manage, and lead processes for rapid prototyping and iterative testing in order to determine time to market, ability to replicate requirements without burdening or compromising core systems and capabilities.
Develop and rigorously manage expectations for success for each project that is put in test. Use both quantitative and qualitative feedback to enhance innovation concepts probability for success
Build, lead, and manage a team of Digital specialists and identifies skill sets that drive success through the alignment of multiple internal teams and leaders.
Work collaboratively with all areas of Retail and other lines of Alliance Data business to move identified digital, mobile, innovations into production and find markets for non-deployed innovation.
Ruthlessly edit the "to-do list" and the "in process list" based on potential and demonstrated results
In summary, this position will lead the function to build, lead and manage processes, methodologies, and techniques for filtering and piloting Digital concepts, and measures progress and success with identified metrics.
Champion and Support Organizational Change for Achieving Sustained Growth through Innovation
Lead by Example: deliver and execute action plans that illustrate high probability, feasibility and receptivity of innovation opportunities within the Retail Services business model.
Help the organization "sell through" to the client
Manage expectations and communication to the Retail Services Executive Committee and rest of organization
Be a champion and change agent for Digital Innovation as defined for, and practiced by Retail Services

Desired Skills and Experience
Education Requirements: B.S. or B.A. required; MBA or advanced degree in business preferred.
Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum 10 years’ experience in marketing, retail credit card, strategic planning or related field, with at least 5 years in a Digital capabilities or entrepreneurial role with a start-up or within a corporate environment.
Extensive experience in innovation, new product development or strategic planning.
Knowledge of the retail and/or credit card industry (ies) would be a major plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proven ability to get new concepts into pilot/prototype phases and then into production.
Skill in creating and delivering innovation processes for filtering, prototyping, piloting and quantifying new business concepts.
Knowledge of directed and sustainable innovation models and application to drive business growth.
Knowledge of Retail Credit Card Industry, including client and consumer driven needs. Knowledge of marketing research, trending analysis, quantitative and qualitative measurements, and application to business solutions.
Skill in accurately interpreting market trends and consumer insights into actionable business ideas that drive growth.
Skill in leading cross functional project teams and managing direct reports.
Ability to drive change in organizations through leadership, collaboration and negotiation skills.
