Job description
Amazon.com is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial and technical director to join the Transaction Risk Management Services (TRMS) organization. TRMS’s mission is to make Amazon the safest and most trusted place worldwide to transact online.
The successful candidate is one who thrives on understanding the complexity of our software systems, and especially brings a nuanced understanding of different aspects of risk management. You will work with technical and non-technical users, including engineers, risk analysts, business leaders, project managers and operations teams, to design and implement key initiatives.
You need to be able to plan and coordinate complex discussions between our team, our dependencies, and our clients. You bring a refined set of soft skills when evangelizing risk management best practices and assisting internal partners in defining customer friendly business policies. Your strong management skills will be utilized to help deliver critical projects that meet various business and inter-org requirements. You are willing and able to get deep into the technical details, are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate is an experienced software development leader who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. You need to really enjoy working with their customers and peers, and help plan and deliver results that matter for the business.
· Demonstrated experience in leading multiple simultaneous product development efforts.
· The ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is critical.
· This leader must be technically credible to lead a team of world class software engineers and development managers and be able to make the right design decisions and technology choices.
· He or she must be able to balance technical leadership with good business judgment.
· Delivering the right product with a scalable engineering design under tight timelines is an essential skill.
· Mentor and grow the next level of engineering management talent.
· A BS or MS degree in Computer Science is required with 15-20 years of experience managing enterprise/mission critical software engineering teams.
