Director - Product Management - Wireless Network Services - Boingo Wireless - Los Angeles


Job description
The role of Product Management is to bring order & disciplined vision to Boingo’s diverse wireless portfolio, industrializing capabilities through clearly defined propositions, specifications & processes to deliver a market-leading experience to our Customers.

The Director for Network Services will play a key role in the Product Management organization, responsible for defining, driving, and delivering Wi-Fi and small cell/DAS network services and propositions at Boingo owned and partnered venues throughout the world. As part of Boingo’s Agile environment, the role will be responsible for generating/evaluating requirements documents, product canvases, product P&L’s & business models underpinning existing and new propositions, driving on-time & on-budget development with high quality and value.

Furthermore, the role shall collaborate with the Product Management, Business Development, Operations and Engineering teams in maintaining Boingo’s product roadmap, ensuring that it adheres to Boingo’s business plan and growth initiatives. He/she will also ensure that Boingo Wireless has a portfolio of best-in-class offerings through the identification of requirements by coordinating market research, competitive analysis and capturing requirements from customers and prospects, managing the project backlog as part of Boingo’s Agile development processes.



The ideal candidate will be experienced in Wi-Fi and small cell/DAS technology and design, service definition and downstream product development and execution. He/she will have strong written communication, change management and financial analysis skills; create passion, excitement and results in others; and provide strategic and tactical direction to evolve and grow a market-leading portfolio of intelligent wireless solutions.

This individual will have strong oral communication skills and be able to clearly discuss and communicate product value and benefits to multiple levels internally and externally.

Build our Products:
•Understand Boingo’s business goals and translate them into a maintainable product vision and roadmap
•Define the organization's network services portfolio objectives and initiatives.
•Manage the product lifecycle process from inception through product launch and delivery to EOL.
•Work closely with Business Development to translate customer requirements into documented use cases & service development requirements
•Develop portfolio strategy and service plans through the balanced use of Boingo-originated-products, centralized products and third party vendors
•Deeply understand Boingo's venue and consumer needs and translate them into reusable solutions
•Deeply understand emergent technologies and how they shape development and user experience
•Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to build the best experience for our customers

Desired Skills and Experience

Build Relationships and Demonstrate Leadership:

•Serve as key matrix partner to revenue leaders. Ensure successful management and leveraging of the matrix environment to meet objectives.
•Communicate effectively, building consensus across multiple constituencies
•Work closely with sales to identify and address broad industry and product trends.
•Identify best-of-breed companies as potential partners and/or vendors to elevate Boingo’s processes, products and service offerings. Continue to build the Boingo Wireless brand externally.

Competencies:

•Agile Product Management. The individual should have experience and/or a clear understanding of the Agile development process, including the role of Product Management in initiating/managing projects.
•Leading edge thinking is required. This individual shall possess the leadership skills to influence others in a matrix organization and infuse them with a passion for the proposed products and services.
•Demonstrated experience leading inspirationally with a commitment to common goals and vision.
•Strong financial acuity; demonstrated ability to understand the financial implications of build vs. buy, develop and assess business cases, and construct and justify budgets
•Demonstrated ability to negotiate up, down and with peers to find common ground, and obtain buy-in for strategies and tactics.
•Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills and group presentation skills. Comfortable presenting at c-level, both externally and internally.
•Ability to effectively maintain/build relationship across business groups.
•Structure business disciplines to facilitate quick and fact-based decisions with accountability for execution.
•Ability to maximize customer linkages and aligns resources with strategic priorities
