Job description
We are currently looking for a Director of Planning. The Director of Planning will oversee production planning and scheduling (primarily packaging and brewery scheduling) for all Boston Beer owned and contract facilities
Ingredients To Be A Successful Director of Planning:
Oversee production planning and scheduling (primarily packaging and brewery scheduling) for all Boston Beer owned and contract facilities, producing daily and weekly production schedules which respond to dynamic changes in supply and demand signals.
Develop long term brewing and packaging pro-forma schedules to support business planning, peak planning, capacity modeling and forecasting of long term business requirements.
Oversee demand planning and forecasting, working with sales, operations, finance and other teams to develop a daily, mid and long term forecast, driving production scheduling decisions.
Oversee enterprise wide inventory management (raw materials, liquid, DC finished goods, in-transit finished goods and wholesaler finished goods). Accountable for improving inventory turns, managing slow moving and end of life product and forecasting future inventory requirements.
Oversee supply planning process, including packaging and raw materials and ensuring coordination with brewing and packaging schedules, minimizing WIP and managing end of life on supplier production runs.
Lead the seasonal SKU transition process, managing the brewing, packaging and inventory deployment activities to support transition timing at Wholesalers, in an effort to maintain in-stock levels while minimizing obsolescence.
Lead process improvement activities, converting and documenting all current processes to automated solutions where applicable, recommending and leading system and organizational changes as required. Assist in the identification and operating of systems designed to improve production scheduling and inventory deployment capabilities.
To Be Mixed With:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Accounting, or Finance.
MBA and APICs certification preferred.
10-15 years’ experience in working in Supply Chain operational and strategic planning, replenishment and inventory management in a Manufacturing/CPG/Retail environment
Experience with advanced planning and inventory systems (preferably SAP or Best-in-Breed) to improve scheduling, replenishment, planning and inventory capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to work in high growth industry, with dynamic changes to demand and supply signal and creating plans to maintain customer service levels in the face on a constrained environment.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and a high degree of comfort learning and working with networked computer systems.
Must possess strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills in order to effective drive changes in thinking and collaborate with disparate departments.
Ability to develop and build strong relationships and networks within the company and externally with relevant suppliers and customers, to develop and execute recommendations in the best interest of the company given business constraints.
Experience with product lifecycle management, including inventory deployment and end of life management for multiple SKU segments, including exiting skus, new skus, slow moving skus, seasonal skus etc.)
Must possess excellent analytical skills and be detail oriented.
Demonstrated ability in continuous improvement.
Strong SAP knowledge experience preferred
Experience with Lean Six Sigma and/or Process Excellence a plus
