Role Description
Global Health & Value (GH&V) offers solutions that help patients and health care providers manage chronic, costly conditions, and improve outcomes and overall health. Two key entities within GH&V are the Outcomes & Evidence (O&E) and Payer Insights & Access (PI&A) groups. Both groups collaborate to achieve commercial success by designing and executing strategies that generate evidentiary data that resonate with patients (and their caregivers), payors, healthcare providers and policy-makers to obtain and maintain market access, as well as to increase market uptake.


This position resides within the O&E group, reporting to the Lyrica/Opioids team lead. The O&E Director will collaborate with the PI&A leads, commercial, medical and other cross-functional teams to develop and implement a health outcomes research plan to support Opioids and/or Lyrica, predominantly in the US. O&E support for additional pain products in the portfolio may be included. The Director plays a key strategic role in developing & supporting the product value propositions within the pain portfolio, and will serve as the strategic and technical expert for the pain portfolio.

Responsibilities
*Member of product team(s), manages activities across GH&V, Medical, Commercial, Business Development, and regional organizations: responsibilities include one or more compounds within the pain portfolio
*Collaborate effectively with product teams, with product directors and clinical and commercial team leads
*Ensure incorporation of economic value arguments - starting early in development - for informed decision making (e.g., go/no-go, clinical trial design) and to facilitate pricing, reimbursement and market access negotiations
*Develop and execute global O&E plans to support the payer value proposition for the pain portfolio under minimal supervision by the Opioid/Lyrica team lead or more senior product leadership
*Develop strategic studies with the end-customer in mind to ensure that the results - when positive - will favorably impact pricing, reimbursement and market access as well as market uptake
*Conduct the design and implementation of standardized study protocols, including statistical analysis plans and reports, for retrospective and prospective data analyses to enhance understanding of local epidemiology, burden of disease, pathways of care, and health resource utilization & costs (among others, for economic models), to support pain portfolio & relevant therapeutic area
*Be accountable for effectiveness, timely execution, and prioritization of O&E plans and the quality of output
*Translate (early) trial efficacy to real-world comparative effectiveness for study planning, identification of subpopulations, and hence potential risk-sharing purposes
*Generate insights into country outcomes research needs in collaboration with regional and country outcomes and market access staff and ensure alignment of country and regional OR plans and programs
*Develop & adapt health economic models to demonstrate cost-effectiveness of products or impact on healthcare budgets
*Contribute to clinical study designs and implementation of patient-reported and/or economic endpoints and communicate study results related to O&E
*Provide technical consultation in area of experience to other O&E scientists in the US and internationally as needed
*Participate in key cross-divisional task forces to help improve processes and standards in O&E research programs
*Influence O&E policies and methodological advances inside and outside the company
*Develop and maintain transparent, collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in health economics & the pain field
*Design and manage contracted research projects (budget negotiations, quality assurance of work conducted by vendors), and plan & oversee annual O&E publication plan aligned with product publication plan
*Analyze, communicate, and publish impactful research pertaining to assigned products
*Manage project budget and timelines, provide reliable LEs and meet quarterly budget spends
*Prepare clear, relevant and influential written reports and presentations for a variety of audiences and effectively present information to senior and executive management
*Represent Pfizer before appropriate scientific, medical, regulatory, payer, patient & other meetings, as appropriate
*Ability to represent and present on behalf of the Lyrica/Opioid team lead as needed
*Demonstrate effective change leadership and entrepreneurial thinker
*Serve as source of expertise/advice for others

Qualifications
*Knowledge of methodological approaches and tools (study design, data analysis and interpretation) in health services research is required
*Knowledge of the technical & methodological aspects of registries and observational study design & implementation
*Capable of oversight & execution of complex prospective and retrospective non-interventional study projects
*Excellent oral and written English communication skills required
*Exhibit strong collaboration skills and ability to engage across multiple functions and business units, manage consensus at various levels and cultivate strategic internal relationships across a highly matrixed organization
*Knowledge and understanding of drug development process, significant knowledge of pharmaceuticals
*Familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes
*Multiple disease area product development and support is highly desirable
*PhD in Economics, health services research, epidemiology or related field with at least 6-8 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience , or
*Master's degree in Economics, epidemiology, health services research or related field, and at least 8-10 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
*Able to plan and deliver strategy in market access discipline in addition to individual market access initiatives
*Analytical nature; comfortable examining & interpreting information, drawing conclusions and recommending next steps & improvements; high degree of comfort with ambiguity
*Takes initiative, works pro-actively, ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines. Self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a global team
*Show business maturity, have strong presence and possess strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write executive-level communications
*Ability to influence and negotiate without formal direct authority, consultative in approach; diplomatic
*Organized and detail oriented with the ability to anticipate needs and to work proactively to prioritize & address/resolve
*Change oriented, comfortable responding to unexpected demands with tight timelines; team player
*Some travel required in the US and/or internationally
