Director - Marketing - Ocean Mist Farms - Castroville
Job description
The Director of Marketing will report to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing; allocate the necessary, approved resources of the marketing budget to support the Ocean Mist Farms sales department and corporate strategic priorities under the guidance of the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in business marketing or related field. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is highly desirable.
This position will develop, execute and maintain a marketing program designed to promote the Company to both the trade and consumer target markets by managing all aspects of budgeting, identity, merchandising, promotions, digital promotion, advertising, public/media relations, communications, consumer relations, new product development, and market research.

Annual Budget: Develop, execute, manage and evaluate ROI for annual marketing budget and expenses for assigned cost centers.
Define, direct and manage marketing plan that promotes and creates trade awareness and brand preference for the entire Ocean Mist product line.
Develop, execute and track consumer promotional efforts for the Company based upon research of consumer trends, demographics and buying perspectives.
Provide creative options to support/grow trade and consumer demand during peak of season time periods defined by sales.
Collaborate on new product development strategy and execute product roll-outs (promotion and customer transitions)
Develop consistent messaging to communicate the Company’s competitive advantages.
Establish and promote our image, values and company brand. Develop and maintain company style guide for employees, supporting vendors, consultants the trade and consumers.
Attend and manage the Company’s involvement with industry trade conferences and conventions; (i.e., Fresh Summit, CPMA, United, etc.). This includes all pre-, during and post-show activities to the Company’s ROI with each event.
Maintain trade visibility by representing the Company on trade association boards and committees (i.e., Produce Marketing Association, United Fresh, Produce for Better Health Foundation, etc.).
Product packaging: Graphic design/content of company packaging for entire product line. Collaborate with packaging manager and committee.
Website/Digital media: management, promotion and development of content for oceanmist.com
Social Media: management, promotion and development of content for trade and consumer social media outlets that create buzz and tangible business results.
Direct and manage development of all print, photographic and video marketing/sales collateral.
Perform any special projects as requested by vice president of sales and marketing.
Responsible for enhancing and expanding business relationships with the Company’s current or potential trade partners as requested by vice president of sales and marketing.
Have broad knowledge and understanding of national retail, club store, foodservice and wholesale supply chains.
Attend off-site or execute on-site customer events, tours and or training, as needed.
Create and/or present various sales presentations to include business review, marketing support offerings or general company overview.
Meet with designated customers and provide sales support as requested; integrate these efforts with marketing or category development offerings.
Execute cross-functional marketing efforts to support, build and enhance company relations with customer base such as cross promotions, display contests and sweepstakes.
Develop, grow and maintain the Company’s category development program: responsible for execution of program process that includes: Consumer research-data purchase-analytics-recommendations-execution-evaluation; find mutually beneficial business opportunities for retail partners based on research and purchased data.
Collaborate with the sales department on enhancing existing programs and identifying new business opportunities as requested.
Support sales efforts in driving sales growth of targeted commodities and customer penetration opportunities as designated by the vice president of sales and marketing.
Desired Skills and Experience

Must have at least 3 – 5 years of marketing and management experience in brand/product role with extensive experience in digital marketing, social media and programming, market research and new product commercialization; preferably in an agricultural environment, with a proven track record of delivering marketing projects on time and within budget.
Have a high degree of produce business insight; able to relate and interact to various individuals within various levels within customer organizations. A demonstrated track record of influencing people and multidisciplinary teams in a complex and fluid environment. Must possess excellent listening skills, influence/negotiation prowess, and relationship management capabilities.
Strong project management and process management skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and work collaboratively and cohesively in a team environment.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications is required; including working knowledge of Famous, ITrade & Food Link is highly desired.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure; excellent written and verbal communicating skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to complete task independently; ability to learn new skills and tasks as needed.
