Director - Logistics - CarMax - Richmond
Job description
The Logistics Director is responsible for leading multiple functions within the Logistics organization. The Director has responsibility of the Fleet department and the Transportation department. This position will also support the AVP of Logistics with the management of relationships with vendors, corporate departments, and external partners and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and implements strategic initiatives for the overall Logistics business.
2. Identifies opportunities for updating processes, procedures, and policies within the department to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and setting the direction on appropriate course of action, while collaborating with the appropriate business partners.
3. Strategically guides our Rating, ETA’s, and Vendor relation efforts.
4. Directs, leads, and develops a team of associates. Responsible for working with associates to create individual development plans and business objectives designed to enhance and assist associate growth and department functions.
5. Oversees CarMaxTransportation.com as it relates to content and functionality, and its alignment with the business’s growth.
6. Manages and collaborates within corporate relationships with other departments including but not limited to Accounting, Legal, Marketing, IT, Merchandising, and Service Operations.
7. Provides analysis of team and vendor performance.
8. Manages external relationships with vendors and partners.
9. Ensures that all Logistics functions are compliant with federal and state laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• B.A. / B. S. degree from a four year university required.
• Federal compliance experience preferred
• 10 years logistics and/or transportation experience
• 5 years logistics management experience required
• Proven success with leading large projects involving cross-functional and multi-disciplined teams
