Director - Bankruptcy Service - Thomson Reuters - New York


Job description
PLC US is looking for a Director, Bankruptcy Service. The Director will:
Deliver the launch business plan for this new PLC US service and manage the team in taking the product to market.
Undertake any additional market research required to define the scope of the service to meet the needs of current and potential subscribers.
Manage the Bankruptcy team and recruit additional junior and senior editors as necessary.
Be responsible for quality control of the content published on the website and for the ongoing innovative development of the service.
Write and review content for the service.
Take a proactive role in the marketing and selling of the service.
Work with the IT development and production teams in the development of the service and on an ongoing basis.
Build the Advisory Board for the service and develop relationships with Advisory Board members.
Develop relationships with law firm attorneys, in-house counsel and other professional groups to ensure that the bankruptcy content is topical and meets subscriber’s needs.

Be aware of developments in other services and the business generally and consider how they may affect the service.
Prepare the service business plan and targets annually, in conjunction with editorial management.
Keep service targets under regular review and regularly report progress to editorial management.
Attend regular management meetings as necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience
Candidates should have at least the following experience and skills:
Senior bankruptcy attorney with at least 10 years of practice experience, preferably at the partner or counsel level, at a law firm or its equivalent standing as in-house counsel with strong, hands-on experience in general bankruptcy matters.
Expertise in a broad spectrum of bankruptcy matters in a wide variety of industries with significant practice experience in several of the following areas:
Representing debtors, creditors, committees, lender groups, trustees and investors in complex restructurings, bankruptcies and acquisitions of troubled companies
Traditional, prepackaged and pre-arranged Chapter 11 proceedings
Chapter 7 liquidation proceedings
Chapter 9 municipal debt restructurings
Out-of court restructurings, workouts and other non-bankruptcy relief
Chapter 15 cross-border bankruptcies across multiple jurisdictions
Bankruptcy litigation
Federal and state law alternatives to bankruptcy
Commercial awareness and strong sense of purpose.
Enthusiasm and ambition, with a desire to improve the efficiency of legal services.
Experience in business development and an ability to identify and lead initiatives.
A thorough understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm bankruptcy attorneys and in-house counsel.
Proven ability as a manager and motivator of people, with excellent listening and communication skills.
The presence and gravitas to represent the organization to leading lawyers.
A high level of technical skill, with a broad knowledge of bankruptcy law and practice.
An ability to produce well-written, practical content efficiently.
