Job description
The Director of Forecasting is responsible to build and lead a team of forecast managers and analysts, giving direction and support to deliver the most accurate supply forecast possible. This position will not only manage and improve existing processes and procedures, but will also lead the research and investment in new technologies and processes that will drive even greater accuracy and precision in the future. Job Responsibilities:
Hire and train staff. Build the department to become best in class. Manage the team’s priorities and allocate resources.
Provide leadership to managers and professional staff in a way consistent with our Vision and Mission.
Develop and implement a strategic vision to transform our forecasting processes into more sophisticated supply and demand planning systems (like MRP).
Assess current processes, procedures, and technologies and set a clear plan for meaningful improvement.
Set clear performance goals and enable employees to achieve success.
Empower employees to continuously improve.
Set clear development plans for employees and support them with the resources to advance their skill sets.
Drive company culture and collaboration.
Collaborate with other key stakeholders to build competency in processes and procedures.
Research, access, and trial new technologies that will enhance precision and timeliness.
Set and manage departmental budgets.
Seek to find obstacles preventing effective teamwork and collaboration and work with stakeholders to remove them. Actively seek for opportunities to productively resolve conflict.
Oversee Senior Forecasting Managers, and provide guidance and support as needed.
Oversee and manage all aspects of forecasting programs to ensure best quality and accuracy of forecasting efforts.
Maintain a working knowledge of cross-industry forecasting methods to provide insight and information about emerging technologies and techniques.
Translate forecasting team results into actionable strategies and meaningful solutions.
Support and provide guidance for team decision making.
Employ industry best practices to assess, quantify, and mitigate risk.
Identify and resolve complex technical and operational issues.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis or experience in Analytical Studies or Statistics. MBA is preferred but not required.
8+ years experience with forecasting or related experience, preferably in the fresh fruit or vegetable industry. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and supervisory experience required.
Strong competency in matrix organization skills: Empathy, Influence, Conflict Resolution, and Self Awareness.
Forecasting Systems knowledge – Quantrix a plus. Requires exceptional computer skills and extensive experience with MS Office products, as well as ability to learn new software programs.
Must thrive in a challenging and rapidly changing business environment
Must possess strong collaboration skills to work across multiple geographies and multiple cross-functional departments.
Process Improvement experiences a plus.
Evening and weekend work may be required, as production and business conditions change throughout the year
Travel required, estimated up to 10%
California driver’s license and the ability to be covered under company-sponsored vehicle insurance program are also required.
A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions are also required.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
