Job description
Position: Development Director
Description: Tuesday's Children seeks an outgoing, experienced and creative professional to capitalize on the important mission and history of organization, and help strengthen and diversify the organization's fundraising activities. The Director will work in close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, program staff and service-­‐base constituencies to realize both annual and long term fundraising objectives through a comprehensive range of initiatives involving individual and institutional giving. The Director will lead and advance the Development team. The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:
Administration and Planning:
Develop and lead comprehensive, inventive, and innovative annual fund program in concert with the Executive Director and senior staff.
Work with Executive Director to engage and inspire Board of Directors in fundraising, outreach and mission driven program objectives.
Manage development expense budget and reporting.
Oversee all development information management, including strict discipline and practice regarding the fundraising database.

Oversee coordination of development events to insure proper planning and execution.
Delegate to staff where appropriate while sharing the vision of the organization allowing staff to have opportunities to make decisions within their spheres of influences.
Represent the organization at professional conferences, association meetings, community meetings, and related events where appropriate.
Individual Giving – Direct/Electronic Mail
Conduct ongoing prospect research.
Develop original strategies for cultivation of new and renewal contributors.
Collaborate, draft and process imaginative and informative direct/electronic mail solicitations that produce results.
Plan and manage ongoing and appropriate recognition and stewardship.
Major Gift Program
Create and coordinate activities of Major Gift Committee.
Conduct ongoing prospect research.
Plan and coordinate all communications, cultivation and solicitation activities.
Plan and manage ongoing recognition and stewardship.
Institutional Support – Corporation, Foundation, Association and Government Grants
Conduct ongoing prospect research and monitor related RFPs.
Develop strategies for approach and cultivation, and participate in funder meetings.
Draft and package new and renewal proposals.
Draft proposal budgets and oversee tracking/reporting on grant funds.
Process all interim/final narrative and financial reporting.
Communication & Outreach
Collaborate with administration and program staff to produce newsletters, brochures, information pieces, web site content and an annual report.
Provide ongoing communication to all stakeholders to advance mission objectives.
Assist PR consultancy in development and implementation of media strategy to raise visibility.
Assist Executive Director with public speaking engagements and related presentations.
Participates in Tuesday's Children's programs and always represents organization in best light.

Skills/Qualifications:
BA degree required , Advanced degree a plus
5 years' demonstrated experience in nonprofit development: including cultivating and soliciting gifts and grants and grant management
Ability to lead and advance a team of professionals with a positive attitude
Ability to interface with board members to accomplish organization mission through development and programs
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Raisers Edge & Qlikview a plus
Ability to work in a fast paced, small office environment
Self-­‐starter with ability to keep on task to meet program deadlines
Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events that change priorities.
