Job description
We are currently seeking a Director of Architecture - Cloud & XaaS. The Director of Architecture is a key technical position reporting to the VP of Engineering.

A self-motivated open source community leader and passionate cloud technologist, the ideal candidate for Director of Architecture will be innovative, understand cloud security issues and various solutions and will be able to define and set directions for product architecture, enabling a disruptive XaaS business model.

The ideal candidate should have participated in open source community as demonstrated by her/his contributions.

Roles/Responsibilities:
Stays current with latest technologies and open source solutions for cloud & XaaS
Provides technical leadership and sets direction for high availability SoA including selection of cloud stack, load balancing & elastic scaling logic, and design of orchestration layer
Leads product studies, performs requirements analysis, and develops software architectures to meet requirementsCreates technical proposals and white papers

Prepares and presents technical briefings to customers and senior management
Interfaces with other design teams to resolve design, implementation, and deployment issues
Leads architecture reviews of all major development projects within the cloud & XaaS domain
Assists on defining future product architecture portfolio to address customer requirements
Identifies potential design enhancement
Measures compliance against standards
Reports status against project plan
Evaluates and identifies solutions for specific projects
Writes functional and design specifications

Desired Skills and Experience
Demonstrated hands-on experience in open source projects that enables cloud and virtualization technologies for XaaS. Knowledge of NFV and SDN is a plus.
In-depth knowledge of pros & cons for various open source projects (e.g., OpenStack, CloudStack, OpenDaylight, Eucalyptus, CloudFoundry, KVM, Linux, etc), including user and admin experience. Able to determine the best solution for the product portfolio.
Experienced in SoA, able to design & develop efficient orchestration layer to achieve highly robust & scalable cloud resident applications.
In-depth knowledge of networking technologies including IP network architecture. Knowledge of mobile radio access network architecture and telecom network infrastructure is a plus.
Hands-on knowledge of RESTful web services.
Expert in modern software design, implementation & verification methodologies, and tools.
Experience working in an agile (scrum) development environment
Experience in integration of multiple loosely-coupled systems is a plus.
Experience in DevOps infrastructure and automation is a critical plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast pace, diversified, and global environment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering, Master’s preferred.
7+ years of software development & deployment experience.
