Coursera’s marketing team is responsible for brand development, new learner acquisition, learner engagement and retention. As the Director of Acquisition and Retention Marketing, you’ll have direct impact on millions of people around the world and you’ll be responsible for building our brand and growing our learner community all the while shaping the future of higher education. The Director of Acquisition and Retention Marketing will report to the CMO and have high visibility throughout the organization.
This person will be responsible for the rapid testing, validation and expansion of acquisition and retention marketing channels to accelerate Coursera’s already impressive organic learner growth. The right candidate will feel comfortable working in a lean, performance-driven environment while maintaining a strong sense of team and collaboration. Online marketing experience is critical; however, it is equally important to think broadly, see new opportunities and grow them.

Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for a confident and highly analytical marketing leader with great creative intuition who will:
develop our acquisition marketing strategy and roadmap including prioritization of tests, channels and resources.
grow and manage our online marketing channels globally, including SEM, SEO, paid social, display and other channels.
develop a lifecycle marketing strategy to produce deeper and longer engagement through email and other relevant marketing channels.
partner with the user growth team including product, UX, engineering, and analytics to test and scale creative data-driven acquisition, engagement & retention strategies.
partner with analytics to develop the acquisition and retention marketing dashboard and supporting metrics (e.g. LTV, Churn, etc).
Requirements:
8-10 years of digital marketing experience using highly sophisticated online marketing techniques for a consumer facing internet company (e.g. online travel, finance, e-commerce, dating, and social gaming).
A desire to build something new that can change the world, versus fitting neatly into a large company with an established static playbook.
Deep understanding of online and mobile advertising space, including platform/ tracking tools, technical integration and best practices. This includes experience running CPM, CPA and CPI campaigns using channels like Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Adwords/ Google Display Network.
Great communication skills- can develop, document and sell-in a marketing strategy and plan.
Ability to develop and drive digital testing strategies that involve creative targeting, A/B and multivariate testing.
Experience leading designers in the development of digital creative assets.
Hyper-analytical and passionate about testing, data and metrics.Expertise with Excel is a must.
Experience with Google Analytics, BigQuerry, Tableau and SQL is a plus.
Collaborative in approach and experience leading across cross functional teams. Works well under pressure.
Has built and developed great performance marketing teams.
BS in Business, Computer Science and/or Engineering, MBA a plus.
