Director - Accounting - Gazelle - Boston


Job description
The Controller/Director of Accounting will report to the VP Finance and work with other members of the Finance organization to ensure the accuracy of the company’s financials and the timely completion of the monthly close, executive reporting, annual audits and tax filings. The candidate will also partner with our FP&A team to help make impactful business decisions.
The position requires the candidate to be hands-on and develop extensive knowledge of the business to support cross-functional processes and initiatives. The successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of current accounting principles and experience managing ERP financial modules.

Principle Activities / Responsibilities
Close the company’s books accurately and on a timely basis with the support of other members of the Finance/Accounting team.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures & controls – including Export Compliance
Ensure Compliance with Company’s Tax filing obligations
Prepare analyses, reconciliations and other support for annual audits and the preparation of tax returns.
Prepare daily cash flow reporting and forecasting.
Oversee customer payout processing.
Prepare accurate and timely month-end account reconciliations with major emphasis on revenue, cost of sales and inventory.
Gather information from business owners in order to prepare close analyses and entries.
Collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure the integrity of the company’s ERP system - with particular attention to Cost accounting
Run the annual audit in accordance with GAAP.
Assist the FP&A and Pricing teams with reporting for ad hoc analysis.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education / Experience & Professional Competencies:
Bachelors degree in accounting
CPA required
5-7 years of public and/or private accounting (some private experience highly preferred)
Oracle Financials expertise preferred
Strong understanding of Revenue Recognition and Cost Accounting
Strong analytical skills
Self-driven, self-starter, results oriented with the ability to work independently
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Experience with transaction-heavy ecommerce and/or manufacturing businesses
Organized, methodical, process-driven
Excellent written and oral communication
Ability to collaborate with others and be a team player
