Director - Strategic Testing & Analytics - The Talbots - Hingham
Job description
Basic Purpose : This position is responsible for establishing and managing process, calendar and deliverables that will drive a test and learn culture for Talbots. This is a high-visibility, dynamic role requiring significant cross-functional collaboration and interaction with leadership to define a learning agenda that is aligned with the overall strategic direction and operational initiatives of the Company. Testing will be leveraged to improve decision-making and investment based on a rigorous, statistically sound approach and timely reporting of findings. Building a learning library of results will also be a critical component of establishing a learning culture.
Principal Accountabilities :
Establish a meeting cadence with quarterly executive reviews, monthly tactical testing meetings with key stakeholders.
Develop standard testing criteria, deliverables and measurements of success and apply them consistently.
Partner with Executive Steering Committee to align the testing strategies with business objectives.
Partner with key stakeholders to develop communication and testing processes that will ensure execution effectiveness of tests.
Manage relationship with third party consultants in use of their software to establish statistically sound test and control scenarios. Leverage tools for reliable, timely analysis.
Create and maintain a comprehensive learning library of test results, providing access to cross-functional partners to help drive future decision-making.
Coordinate testing agendas across functions to ensure validity of all tests; maintain a company-wide testing calendar.
Flexibility to adjust to changing needs of the business based on performance and economic environment.
Collaborate with Financial Partners and cross-functional subject matter experts to prepare and interpret results and recommendations.
Establish effective business partnerships to gain insight into business trends and strategic initiatives in order to influence learning agenda and application of test results.

This position influences strategic direction and investments through the application of test results.

Education/Experience/Knowledge :
MBA preferred, Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Mathematics from an accredited four year college, acceptable
10+ years progressive experience in a Retail Company in the Finance, FP&A, Planning or Testing organization or experience in business consulting or applied mathematics and statistics
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage projects cross-functionally
Advanced experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data warehouse / database applications
Strong analytical capability and ability to distill key learnings from complex data
Basic understanding of business statistics
Ability to establish trust and credibility to work independently or to collaborate across functions to deliver required business results
Ability to be persuasive with details, facts and supporting data.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with peers, across departments and use those relationships to execute and influence business strategy
Quick learner with superior time management and problem solving skills.
Data and detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
Operate with a sense of urgency
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting information and responding to questions from internal and external parties
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage commitments to completion within desired timeframe to meet deadlines
