What Public Relations contributes to Cardinal Health
Public Relations is responsible for the development and implementation of public, social and media relations strategies to advance business and reputation goals. Encompasses public relations and awareness building strategies, national, trade and social media relations, thought leadership, crisis communications, reputation and issues management.

Demonstrates solid understanding of contemporary integrated media relations and social media principles, communications tools and measurement processes.
Demonstrates solid understanding of multiple customer audiences, traditional and emerging communication channels and best practices.
Deliberately selects and applies best communication strategies, processes, channels and practices to meet business objectives and desired outcomes.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of issues management. Directs issues management programs and manages communication in crisis situations.
Develops and leads communication campaigns and strategies.
Writes, reviews, edits and produces clear, concise communications for key audiences, drawing upon business and communication expertise. Selects writing style based on desired stakeholder reaction and modifies it to be channel appropriate.
Serves as media spokesperson and media contact.
Provides media relations and social media coaching to executives and other spokespersons and subject matter experts.
Influences key constituencies based on insight, persuasive written and verbal communications skills and strong relationships. Able to communicate with all levels internally and externally. Builds constructive relationships across the organization and builds trust and rapport with internal and external partners.

Utilizes broad and deep knowledge to develop innovative new communications practices, policies and procedures
Contributes to the development of department strategy
Works on or may lead highly complex projects of large scope
Projects are typically cross-functional and have significant and long-term impact
Provides solutions which set precedent
Negotiates complex or risky technical business issues on behalf of the company
Independently defines project; establishes budgets; identifies participants and mitigates risk
Consults with management to determine project objectives with long-term implications
Works with senior leaders and multiple internal teams at all levels of the organizations to accomplish results
Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues

Accountabilities in this role

Proactively provides public relations counsel to senior leaders, marketing teams, communications colleagues and other internal colleagues.
Collaborates with communications, creative, digital, public relations, government relations and other key internal teams as necessary to achieve objectives.
Responsible for the development and implementation of public relations and social media campaigns, strategies and tactics that engage key constituents and support business objectives.
Manages company blog, Essential Insights
Develops integrated media relations programs
Produces effective communications in a variety of formats. Edits and provides constructive feedback to writing and recommendations of others.
Develops productive, positive relationships with journalists and other key influencers.
Provides crisis communications counsel to leadership to support effective issues management.

Supports executive visibility media relations efforts

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

Bachelor’s and Advanced degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
12+ years experience in media relations
Experience in content marketing a plus
Healthcare experience preferred
