Director - Retail Marketing & Promotions - Diesel - New York


Job description
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the day to day management over key functional areas
The main focus of this job role is the performance of activities directly related to the running of the Retail & Wholesale Promotions function supporting areas of advertising; marketing.(comprising 51%, or more, of your work week)¨ Manages all Diesel events and promotional activities in the Retail & Wholesale channel by following specific guidelines received by the VP Marketing and other Commercial function needs in addition to Diesel Headquarters in order to support the development and the growth of the Diesel brand.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
BUDGET MANAGEMENT
Plans and controls departmental budget in conjunction with projects managed
FUNCTIONAL PLANNING
Plans of day to day and annual work flow
Establishes priorities and team objectives
Directs team’s work, ensures it is delegated and apportioned accordingly to optimize output
Determines resources and equipment required in function to enable objective achievement. Submits requests for resources as required.
Key Areas of Responsibility for RETAIL PROMOTIONS
Conceptualizes and oversees execution in-store events for Diesel retail stores.
Creates post-action reports that include Critical Success Factors, KPI goals, relevant photos and collateral, and SWOT analyses for every Retail event and promotion
Oversees events and promotions as part of a specific strategy of support for Retail stores in terms of pre-launch, launch, and maintenance in line with Diesel’s awareness of the store location’s importance. Similar strategies will be implemented for existing and trouble Diesel stores.
Communicates and reports on a daily basis to the VP Marketing and other Executives Directors as necessary.
Ensures communication occurs on a daily basis by Retail Promotions Manager with Retail stores’ Area Managers and Store Managers to plan and execute all in-store events, promotions, and initiatives specific to Managers’ respective markets.
Determines and assigns action plans to Retail Promotions Manager..
Works with Retail department’s SVP to understand Retail department’s needs, operational guidelines and calendar.
Ensures accurate Archiving/management/controls for the events/promotional activities archive.
Accountable for ROI on all Retail promotional activities and projects
Key Areas of Responsibility for WHOLESALE PROMOTIONS
Oversees in-store events for Diesel wholesale points of sale.
Creates post-action reports that include Critical Success Factors, KPI goals, relevant photos and collateral, and SWOT analyses for every wholesale event and promotion.
Oversees events and promotions as part of a specific strategy of support for Wholesale corners in terms of pre-launch, launch, and maintenance in line with Diesel’s awareness of the corner’s location importance.
Communicates and reports on a daily basis to the VP Marketing and other executives as needed.
Partners with Visual and Wholesale teams to strategically plan all in-store events, promotions, and initiatives specific to respective markets; Oversees execution
Communicates and obtains approval on strategy & action plans to HQ
Manages relationships with Wholesale department’s Directors of Wholesale, Wholesale Planners and Visual Merchandising Directors to understand the wholesale department’s needs, operational guidelines and calendar.
Ensures accurate Archiving/management/control of the events/promotional activities archive.
Monitors management of NRD warehouse actions in regards to movement and storage of Diesel assets (furniture, Marketing Materials, etc)
Ensures accurate tracking of POP for wholesale points of sale
All other duties as assigned
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Ensure team has thorough understanding of press strategy and clear goals for implementing initiatives
Inspire dedication and commitment from the team
Ensure a high level of professionalism and organization exists for press team
Interviews and selects direct reports and team members, proposes pay rates and work schedules
Trains team on work practices and procedures
Appraises direct reports and team members’ performance on an annual and day to day basis; recommends promotions as appropriate to Human Resources
Maintains records on employees’ performance within team as required to enable effective supervision and control of team
Disciplines and performance manages employees within direct team on areas of substandard performance
Proposes employee status changes, up to and including employment termination, to Human Resources for areas of ongoing unsatisfactory performance or gross misconduct, in line with Company policies and procedures
Receives and resolves employee concerns and complaints in conjunction with Human Resources
Provides safety and security of employees (and property).

Desired Skills and Experience
GENERAL REQUIRED EXPERIENCES

EDUCATION
4 yr degree in marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience
EXPERIENCE
6+ years experience in retail promotions, including 2+ years in both retail and wholesale environments
2+ years managing 1 or more direct reports
Demonstrated experience creating and executing comprehensive retail promotions strategies that generate ROI
Experience managing a budget
Demonstrates a high level of energy and positive demeanor with people.
Strong understanding of Diesel & competitive landscape
Strong oral and written communicator.
Strong organizational skills.
Successful in developing relationships at the executive level
