Director - Process Technology TFT - SABIC - Houston


Job description
Job Purpose:
• Evaluate options for Licensing including the revamp of technology.
• Evaluate Acquire and Start-Up Technology.
• Improve existing technology.
• Explore the potential of new technologies.


Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with the T&I and SBU management teams for the acquisition and improvement of current and new technology.
• In consultation with the GM Licensing, develops and implement a global licensing strategy for all SABIC’s technologies and associated products.
• Work with third parties to produce packages for out-licensing. Guide the interactions with third party licensors and engineering firms for technology acquisition & sales
• Revamp design packages for internal use.
• Collaborates with teams across the organization including scientists, SBUs, legal, finance, manufacturing and regulatory groups.
• Evaluate the potential for in-licensing and pursue risk mitigation during construction for startup technology.
• Be responsible for evaluating and improving current technology including the take-over of major process technology improvement initiatives.
• Be on call for problem solving during start up and ready deployment in case of issues.
• Oversees preparation of process design package of technologies for licensing out with third party engineering firm, setting up the licensing identification and packaging process and identifying PDP contractor.
• Maintain an extensive internal & external network to identify potentials related to new technologies.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education:

• University degree in Science or Engineering, preferably PhD level

Experience:

• Ten years’ experience in the petrochemicals industry
• Five years’ management experience
• Strong technical experience, preferably research and/or process engineering

Competencies:
• Understanding of SABIC business, culture and future technology needs
• Ability to drive initiatives across the SABIC organization
• Experience in licensing of chemical technologies
• Strong technical grasp of technology, especially research and conceptual engineering, cost estimation
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent communication skills
