Senior Architect
PayPal is seeking a Senior Architect of Core Services Architecture. The successful Senior Architect will envision, evangelize, architect & create a world-class platform. He/She will help drive & create a comprehensive, service-oriented architecture that will support PayPal's Core Services Platform. The successful candidate will be the primary Domain and Solution architect for Compliance services and will partner with Domain and Solution architects in Credit, Payments and Risk.
The company considers this a key position of responsibility and opportunity. PayPal's platform will enable the financial backbone of PayPal's products to be quickly developed and iterated. The platform will support the engineering needs for our financial, highly regulated products enabling greater agility for global capabilities and expansion.
The successful candidate will help develop a comprehensive services strategy and catalog that will drive the scalability and availability. You will be working a fast paced dynamic & agile scrum based development environment. You will create solutions that leverage the common architectures and frameworks across multiple groups at PayPal, including risk, payments, credit and compliance engineering.
The position will in Core Services Product Development Group at PayPal's headquarters in San Jose, California. Travel for the role is moderate - Less then 25%, primarily within the United States and occasionally to Singapore.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be the Architect for Compliance within Core Services. Driving the Compliance domain architecture, high-level designs and long term architecture roadmaps. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of Compliance in the Financial Services. Understand the business and regulatory drivers, methodologies, processes. In the absence of direct Compliance experience, candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to rapidly ramp up in new business areas.
You will be responsible for:
Compliance Technology Strategy,
Compliance Systems and Application Architecture,
Compliance Technology Development & Strategy Roadmap,
In addition, the Compliance Architect will, on behalf of the Group, assess the technology implications of any regulatory changes or associated initiatives, advising Compliance Technology and Business Leadership accordingly. You will provide oversight to Compliance-led technology projects, acting as a thought leader and subject matter expert. You will also provide the technology input to other Core Services projects and initiatives. He/She will represent Compliance's technology interests in projects and forums external to Compliance in support Core Services Product Development.
You will be the primary domain and solution architect for Compliance driving Core Services products, services and APIs created and iterated in a fast, sustainable way. You will drive the creation of a comprehensive services catalog and documentation.
You will think strategically around the financial capabilities needed to support the evolution of PayPal's products. Take into account, global expansion and increase in payments volume requiring a platform that supports product development that is strategic and scalable.
Lead the organization's thinking surrounding core capabilities and provide solutions spanning multiple applications/systems. These capabilities are becoming increasingly complex in different global markets, and with the iteration of a variety of products. You will need strong communication & collaboration skills. Be able to listen and understand others well. Establish an appropriate business-aligned strategic architecture vision for a major functional area and driving and introducing transformational changes.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field,
10-15 years of industry experience, showing progressive levels of responsibility,
Strong understanding of Compliance systems,
2+ years of experience in Compliance systems development or architecture,
High-availability & high-performance systems design,
Deep understanding of designing systems at scale (Million of users),
Java, C++, UML, XML, APIs and REST,
RDMS and No-SQL Database design, ER Modeling,
SOA, Web Services,
Cloud and Elastic Computing,
Big Data, Range partitioning and Sharding,
Advanced modeling and diagraming skills,
Analytics Platforms,
CEP Complex event processing
Rules Engines
Desired Skills:
Exposure to: PCI, FINRA, FACTA regulatory and industry compliance regulations is an advantage but not required,
Understanding of SEPA, Eurozone regulatory environment a plus,
Previous experience with Global GEO Domain data privacy constraints and solution strategies a major plus.
