Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Computer Services, the Director of Technology Architecture is responsible for development of the direction for technology infrastructure. The Director of Technology Architecture’s responsibilities include strategic/tactical planning, budget projections and procurement, project management, policy development and implementation, and overseeing technology development. The Director will be involved with projects at the time of inception and is involved in the analysis of developing the initial requirements. The Director remains involved throughout the balance of the project. This position will work with Deans, administrators, direct reports and expanded staff, students, faculty, staff, vendors, the development community and other key personnel. The Director is the link between the needs of the organization and the application team/developers. The Director must be an expert in many categories, having hands-on experience across several disciplines (operating systems, security platforms and strategies, databases, network acumen, development environments, mobile platforms, cloud computing, enterprise architecture, standards and best practices, etc.). Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least five years of directly related experience working in the IT field and managing a professional team. Demonstrated experience with Unix/Linux, Windows and VMware system architecture. Additional experience with storage networks, backups and software distribution architecture. Experience in a senior role providing input to the executive team. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals.
*Strong interpersonal skills.
*Demonstrated ability to develop senior level reports, strategic planning and proposal writing.
*Strong leadership, strategic planning and project management skills.
*Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.
*Expertise with budget planning and procurement.
*Ability to travel to off-site locations that may not be accessible via public transportation.
