Director - Strategic Sourcing - Baldor Electric - Fort Smith
Job description
The Director – Strategic Sourcing is responsible for leading the development and execution of sourcing strategies across all aspects of the business through supplier selection and development, contract negotiations and execution, and supplier performance management.
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Serve our customers (keep production running)
- Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts for key suppliers; manage supplier base.
- Identify areas of risk within supply chain; implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Maintain knowledge of market / industry trends within area of expertise and communicate potential impact on business.
- Monitor changes affecting supply and demand; tracks market conditions, price trends, and futures markets.
- Monitor supplier market characteristics regularly; identifies opportunities resulting from market shifts and takes advantage of such shifts.
- Work with commodity teams and users to ensure internal customer needs are met
Manage supplier performance (quality, delivery, total cost)
- Maintain overall supplier relationships, establish annual cost-out, quality, and on time delivery targets with key suppliers. Provide regular performance feedback to suppliers, and drive corrective actions as required.
- Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders and other agreements and compliance with legal requirements and Company policy. Resolve non-conformance issues, back-charges and claims in a timely manner to minimize the Company’s exposure.
- Oversee performance management (cost, reliability, quality) of suppliers.
- Develop supplier spend reports to identify targeted improvements; leverages value for the company.
- Seeks opportunities to expand diverse supplier spend.
- Lead Continuous Improvement events with suppliers; improves total cost of ownership.
Manage cost and assets (cost, productivity, inventory)
- Implement sourcing design changes to improve reliability in operations and reductions in costs.
- Work with operations and business team to design optimal source points and shipping arrangements.
- Operate on a daily basis to meet reliability objectives for customer supply
- Works with the Operations team to maximize value across the supply chain and drive a culture of continual improvement.
- Act as central point of expertise and knowledge for users in assigned spend categories.
- Participation in R&D and New Product development projects to ensure proper supplier selection and the achievement of total cost, quality, and profitable growth objectives.
-Drive year over year cost reduction initiatives
-Drive expansion of supply base to multiple global regions.

Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, supply chain or operations is required.
EXPERIENCE:
15+ years of experience, or alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated performance and results; in the areas of operations, supply chain purchasing, strategic sourcing or materials management
Ability to build relationships and partnerships to collaboratively execute business strategies.
Customer focused.
Proven success with leadership and management.
Proven success in expanding supply base into multiple regions and developing supply groups and processes in emerging markets.
Self-motivated and directed.
Strong analytical, mathematical, reasoning, problem solving and organizational skills.
Project management skills
Excellent influencing, relationship, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
Strong Microsoft Office/computer skills and previous BUS/SAP experience preferred.
APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or ISM Certified in Professional Supply Management (CPSM) a plus
Travel required.
