Job Description
Primary responsibilities include providing the leadership to the SSC Software Engineering (SW) organization, which consists of approximately 1200 employees across the enterprise. In addition, this position is responsible for expertise across the software development lifecycle and providing software products that are integral to space and missile systems.
Primary Duties include:
•Conduct Engineering performance assessments, and reviews to assure the integrity of Software Engineering functions, policies and standards of excellence.
•Ensure active collaboration between the LOB and Engineering on critical needs and issues throughout the program/product lifecycle.
•Develop and manage SW annual budget and related spend-plan that meets Engineering requirements.
•Review and approve the selection of Software Engineering tools, designs, recommendations and associated technology development.
•Engage in architecture definition, technology development and insertion, and technical trades with an emphasis on commonality, best practices and value.
•Facilitate knowledge sharing, enhance skills and facilitate career advancement opportunities of Software Engineers.
•Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with SSC Chief Engineers and Program Managers.
•Ensure engagement of engineering resources to resolve anomalies and technical issues.
•Plan and validate SW staffing forecasts, both quantity and level, with the programs within the LOBs.
•The successful candidate may also provide oversight of the advanced program activities and technology initiatives.
•Identify technical knowledge areas and collaborate in ongoing activities to support with Knowledge Transfer/ Knowledge Sharing.
•Engage and be accountable for Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) and programs for Software engineer.
•Proactively contribute and support Engineering Strategic Threads and initiatives in support of error-free engineering, agility and affordability.
This position can be in Sunnyvale or Denver.
Basic Qualifications
•15 years of technical and leadership experience with demonstrated product development experience from proposal through delivery.
•Experience leading other leaders in the direct delivery of products to the customer.
•3 -5 years of experience with Software Engineering including development, integration and test in the program lifecycle.
•Previous experience successfully leading a major project or initiative from conception to implementation.
•Must have proven Full Spectrum Leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees to perform productively in a team environment spanning across geographically dispersed sites.
•BOE and proposal writing experience thru the S/C level with customer knowledge and interface.
•Excellent communications skills both verbal and written with the proven ability to communicate in a manner that clarifies issues, promotes closure, and delivers information in a clear and concise manner and facilitates decision making to all levels within the organization.
•Must possess demonstrated past experience in developing Enduring Relationships and maintaining effective technical relationships across the enterprise, suppliers and/or customers.
•Must have the ability to obtain SCI and Top Secret clearance levels.
Desired skills
•Masters degree (math/science/engineering).
•Experience in re-organization or implementation of new or revised functional organizations to better leverage resources, processes and productivity.
•Greenbelt/Black belt certification.
•CRAD development and proposal experience.
•Wide variety of customer experience and exposure across Business Areas.
•Experience making high stakes decisions.
•Experience in collaborating across organization boundaries, such as Enterprise Operations, Business Areas, other industries, etc.
