Director - Security & Risk Management - Synageva BioPharma Corp. - Lexington
Job description
Responsible for directing the strategic development, implementation, and administration of policies, practices, and procedures to safeguard company’s critical infrastructure. This includes people, assets, information, and products.
Responsibilities:
Promote and oversee strategic security relationships between internal resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
Responsible for developing and implementing programs to ensure employee security and asset protection is handled on both a strategic and tactical basis. Includes access control systems, facility alarms, locks, security fences and CCTV surveillance systems, and vendor management for all the above. Identify security goals, objectives and metrics consistent with corporate strategic plan.
Collaborate with the Information Technology Function, Insurance, Facilities, Executive, Legal & Compliance, Finance, and Human Resources functions as required.
Assess baseline and higher order risks, then develop, implement, and manage the strategic and tactical planning to mitigate these risks and ensure alignment with the manufacturing overall objectives.
Ability to make confident decisions and assessment on global/local incidents that impact the manufacturing process.
Manage the development and implementation of security and privacy policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of best practices.
Participate in preparation of the risk management operating budget.
Provide protection to people and property through monitoring surveillance cameras, alarms, and occasional patrols of property. Identify unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
Work under general direction, exercising reasonable latitude in determining protective service techniques to accomplish objectives. Participate in providing protective service programs for Senior Executives and international operations. May participate in protective programs to included personal protection, corporate facilities, and event security, ground & air transportation protocol, personal assistance, and special projects.
Remain informed on trends and issues in the security industry.
Desired Skills and Experience
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree or combined education and work experience required
12 years of security related experience progressing to a leadership position and dealing with executive management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong technical ability
Detail-oriented and extremely well organized
A proven achiever in a fast paced corporate environment
