Director - Marketing - US Senate Federal Credit Union - Washington
Job description
At the United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) we are seeking a marketing professional to fill the position of Director of Marketing at our Alexandria location. The director is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of the Credit Union’s comprehensive marketing program across all touch points. And, initially will be responsible for building a new marketing team.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Works with senior managers, department directors/managers, and team members to develop the strategic goals of the Credit Union.
Oversees the internal and external development of marketing promotions including print, electronic, branch and audio. Manage external vendors for cost effectiveness. Develops and maintains system for tracking cost and results. Develops and implements system of measuring success of marketing efforts such as ROI.
Coordinates management of information on the public website and team intranet. Coordinates updates and provides direction for the development of all areas of the website. Manages information on the intranet. Coordinates routine reviews of both sites.
Develops the marketing budget.
As needed, coordinates quantitative member research and surveys and makes recommendations for changes to the Credit Union’s products and services based upon the results.
Develops and manages the Credit Union’s MCIF system. Using data from this or other systems develops target marketing plans and strategies to maximize ROI.
Organizes and executes the annual meeting, annual report and annual Board election activities.
Manages the job performance of subordinate staff. Trains, coaches, counsels, and disciplines marketing staff; communicates job expectations; monitors, appraises, and reviews job contributions; enforces policies and procedures. Assigns specific tasks and projects and establishes departmental goals consistent with overall Credit Union strategic objectives.
Complies with all applicable Rules, Regulations and Statutes of the NCUA and other appropriate governing bodies to include but not limited to: the Credit Union Bylaws, Credit Union Code of Conduct, Credit Union Employee Guidebook, Bank Secrecy/Anti-Money Laundering Act, Fair Housing Act, Fair Lending Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Desired Skills and Experience
Experience needed:
BA/BS in marketing/advertising or degree in another field with equivalent work experience.
Two (2) years of general work experience and three (3) years of progressively responsible Marketing experience required.
Five (5) years of progressively more responsible supervisory/management experience preferably within a credit union or financial institution. Strong leadership and diplomacy skills, management skills and ability to supervise professional staff required.
Independent judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with management, staff and the public is expected.
Strong analytical skills as they relate to the industry and market conditions required.
A working knowledge of Credit Union saving and lending products, marketing objectives, and budget standards and asset liability management.
Strong organizational, prioritization and project management skills and the ability to multi-task required. Individual must be detail-oriented, with an ability to work independently, under pressure, and within moving deadlines.
Must be a versatile marketing strategist and creative manager with credit union experience. Strong computer skills (Adobe CS, MS Office suite of products) are required. Knowledge of internet applications and skills necessary to assist with update and maintenance of website. Ability to monitor/utilize email campaigns. Knowledge of HTML is a plus.
Familiarity with social media and networking preferred. Must exhibit creativity and innovation in approaches, methods and ideas.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changeable environment with a team-based philosophy is expected.
Communication:
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including correct use of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Copy writing experience and graphic design is a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively with members, staff, and the general public in both formal and informal settings. Public speaking experience is helpful for meetings and presentations.
