Director - Energy Systems Engineering - Pentair - Conroe


Job description
The Director of Energy Systems Engineering will be responsible for managing and directing the hardware business for the Oil & Gas Separations platform based out of the Conroe, TX facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Manages direct sales support groups including engineering services, project proposals, rental fleet, upgrade engineering, and customer service. Act as a liaison to communicate and align sales strategies to product development and manufacturing.
Responsible for formulating business strategies, developing indicators to measure ongoing sales productivity, and actionable business information across all sales functions for the Global Energy Group. Directs the analysis of customer specifications to determine proper platform and accessories required.
Works with customers and sales team to define sales process, demand development and creation of sales effectiveness tools. Coordinates with manufacturing, planning, sales, R&D, and purchasing to insure timely deliveries and to meet customer requirements and drive price management policies and procedures.
Assembles and manages cross-functional teams. Develops a framework in the appropriate functions to ensure that the customer’s internal and external performance goals are achieved while balancing the cost impact of the request(s).
Facilitates the quotation process within Pentair for the customer and tracks changes and cost impacts for the operation and the customer.
Drive Project Management practices for project sales, upgrades, and rentals including cost monitoring, change order management, project closing analysis to identify improvement opportunities in initial cost budget and element sales forecast.
Develop installation database for upgrades, licenses and rental vessels to identify sales opportunities.
Develop a pricing policy that maximizes margin opportunities through value added product and services such as customized designs, rush orders, and low volume sales.
Standardize account review reporting that both communicates account activity to sales and identifies opportunities for price adjustments.
Oversee rental fleet element standardization project. This project will optimize profits during project start up, ensure required inventory, and minimize manufacturing capacity disruption.
Translate sales strategy deployment goals into operational tactics and leads the projects to achieve them.
Supports the implementation of innovative sales planning process integrating strategy, operating and financial planning in a collaborative effort across sales, product and operations teams.
Supports the implementation of demand management strategies and best practices that complement growth strategies and tactical sales development plans.
Directs activities of layout design drafter(s) to efficiently complete documentation.
Works with the Program Manager and the Business Unit to support the quoting process.
Meets with customers as needed to convert customer concepts/designs into workable product solutions.
Reviews customer specifications and requirements for potential future product platforms.
Layout and design of piping systems
Prepare project drawings, including general arrangement, P&ID, flow diagrams, piping isometrics, and bill of materials.
Execution of Projects
Manage overall relationship & quality of fabrication vendors.
Develop bids, proposals, scope of work, material list, design concepts and drawings, as it relates to equipment general arrangement, and instrumentation
Assist the engineering staff in the selection of system instrumentation
Provide guidance to staff members relating to mechanical and piping design and layout
Review fabricator submittals and work with their design staff to ensure compliance to project requirements.
Coordinate design work with other project team members
Ensure compliance with company and client design standards
Assist in the development and maintain the integrity of the engineering database
Lead the development of a conceptual design library for vessel systems

Desired Skills and Experience
BS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics drawings, and bill of materials
7-10 years of vessel fabrication experience and layout experience in the refining, petroleum, gas, or chemical industries
Experience in instrumentation selection preferred
Familiarity with API, ASME, ANSI codes required
Experience in pressure vessel manufacturing preferred
Self motivated, and able to produce high quality results within time and budget constraints
