Director - Communications - PepsiCo - New York


Job description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Communications, this role is responsible for Global Sustainability and Performance with Purpose Communications for PepsiCo. This includes the following:
Executing and gaining alignment for the annual PepsiCo Corporate Sustainability Report. This requires working closely with key internal sustainability stakeholders and their teams to interpret data and assist in writing the Corporate Sustainability report utilizing the Global Reporting Initiative Framework. (Note that this position is not responsible for writing the report, but will supervise, add input, and edit the work of an internal or external writer). Executing the Corporate Sustainability Report will additionally require cross-functional executive alignment and CEO and Chairman review and approval.
Responsibility to manage the budget for the PepsiCo Corporate Sustainability report and its extensive online components, and for managing the external agency that will do the design work, online and print production for the report.
Providing Global Sector and Market guidance and support on sustainability reporting by aligning sectors and markets on a unified reporting format and timeline.
Partnering with Media Bureau on Sustainability media relations strategy and execution. This involves setting the media strategy and working with the Media Bureau to field, pitch and evaluate media opportunities and then manage ongoing relationships of successful pitches
Supporting Subject Matter Experts on internal and external communications for the Human, Talent (to a lesser extent, as this is led by others) and Environment Sustainability Planks of Performance with Purpose. This includes speaking engagements, blog or column writing, and other assignments as needed.

Qualifications:
Deep and current understanding of Sustainability issues, knowledge of what is material to PepsiCo stakeholders, and good grasp of PepsiCo's record of achievement in these areas.
Excellent writing and editing skills
Ability to work collaboratively across functions, including comfort with supporting/interacting with senior executives
Knowledge of international markets and comfort in working globally
Strong executive presence - ability to persuade and lead without formal power in the hierarchy
More than 10 years of experience and exposure to Corporate Communications, and specific dedicated experience in Sustainability Communications.
