Job description
The Markets Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York implements monetary policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve System and acts as fiscal agent for the U.S. Treasury. The Rapid Solutions Team (RST) within the Markets Group Business Technology function focuses on developing operational and analytical trading support tools and models (e.g., Java, Excel VBA, SAS, MATLAB) to aid in the monitoring and analysis of financial markets and implementation of monetary policy. The Rapid Solutions Team is a new development team within Markets dedicated to short project turnaround to meet critical business needs.
The Markets Group is currently seeking a Staff Coordinator to create and manage a new staff within Markets Solutions Development, viz. the Rapid Solutions Team. The ideal candidate has strong business knowledge, experience building technology solutions, and strong leadership skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important qualifications.
Job Responsibilities:
Hire, train, and manage a high performing team of specialists responsible for developing short- to medium-term operational and analytical trading support tools for the Business.
Oversee the project prioritization process. In doing so, actively work with Function heads to confirm project priorities and communicate those priorities to all relevant parties.
Be responsible for the rapid delivery of short- to medium-term solutions to meet the Business’s critical analytical and operational needs.
Provide strategic and architectural oversight to the tools being developed.
Develop a strong relationship with complementary Business Technology teams, Business Liaisons, and MOMA/Discount Window Collateral Valuation management team to effectively oversee the project delivery process.
Develop a set of best practices for the development of short- to medium-term solutions and advance the adoption of same within the team.
Work with other Business Technology leaders to determine the set of technology solutions supported by the RST.
Provide 1^st level support for RST-built solutions and perform periodic assessment to manage the portfolio support.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
At least ten years of relevant work experience, including people and talent management experience;
Bachelor’s degree, and ideally a Master’s degree, in an analytical field (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering);
Excellent technical project management skills and experience with rapid software development methodologies such as Agile;
Distinctive ability to determine and analyze user needs and apply them to technology design;
Demonstrated ability to interact with technical, business and operational experts to establish and meet common goals;
Strong knowledge of a wide variety of tools and techniques used to implement quick technology solutions to meet customers’ needs;
Very strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
