Director - Operations - Dairy Farmers of America - Kansas


Job description
Responsible for developing operations and supply chain strategy, including recommending capital improvements and talent deployment.
Responsible to establish operations strategy, objectives, best practices, tools, and metrics to deliver 'best in class' performance across the Supply Chain (direct and indirect reports).
Establish and manage crossfunctional and crossregional teams to design and implement endtoend supply chain capabilities and strategies based upon business plans and objectives, new product introductions, and new business opportunities based on constantly changing market needs and goals.
Develop short and longterm plans (including facilities, materials, and talent development) to meet customer, industry, business and financial requirements while driving continuous and sustainable improvements across the organization.
Assures compliance of assigned plants' operations with company policy and Federal, state and local regulations.
Establishes manufacturing policies and strategies in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, materials usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, and performance measures.
Reviews and evaluates cost effectiveness, consistency, quality, accuracy and performance of assigned plants to standards and takes action as necessary to correct discrepancies.
Provide leadership for the Supply and Demand planning activities to achieve operating cost efficiencies and customer service goals for the Consumer business.
In conjunction with corporate and plant Supply Chain functions, insure raw materials procured achieve finished product goals and eliminate nonconformance.
Responsible for talent and leadership development across the assigned Manufacturing team ensuring current and future leaders can meet the challenges of our growing and dynamic business.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field
15+ years Manufacturing and Supply Chain experience in Food industry with track record of significant accomplishments from companies that have advanced operational excellence and continuous improvement programs
5 years experience in management role in a multi-plant environment
Demonstrated success leading step change performance improvement in a multi-plant environment utilizing Continuous Improvement culture and tools
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, maturity and good judgment with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders (i.e. customers, suppliers, contractors, employees, executives, etc.)
Broad cross functional experience and technical skills in areas across the supply chain including manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, quality, engineering, project management, etc.
Strong leadership and project management skills
Creative thinker with the ability to drive innovation across the extended value chain
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire people and achieve results through others. Develop, mentor and coach team for optimal effectiveness
Strategic thought leader: Ability to think ahead and plan over a 13 and 35 year timeframe
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
Proficient in analytics and problem solving at both the strategic and functional levels with the ability to take concepts and strategies and move them into successful implementation
Demonstrated experience implementing culture of Continuous Improvement across multisite organization (i.e. culture, talent development, tools, metrics, sustainability, etc.)
