User Interface Director - CEB - Washington
Job description
CEB’s growing Digital Products and Innovation team is looking for seasoned and visionary leader to head up our User Experience group. Our ideal candidate is passionate about users, wants to learn and challenge themselves and work in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Projects include stewarding CEB’s digital visual identity, information architecture, web design, responsive designs, apps, and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Delights users. Takes ownership of ensuring CEB UX achieves high quality levels with the introduction of new features and products, and that we are delivering great experiences with every release.
Partners with product managers to conceptualize, define and execute new user-facing new products and features informed by analytics and user testing.
Represents the voice of the user through the product development process.
Manages team of UX professionals, leading them to take projects from ideation through to launch providing team coordination, task prioritization, and feedback.
Team Management
Sets UX team’s strategy priorities, allocates resources and manages queue of projects to on-time delivery, including defining resource needs, hiring, onboarding and developing staff and contractors.
Builds strong relationships with staffing agencies, vendors and contractors to ensure staffing needs are met quickly and contract resources adhere to CEB’s standards when executing projects.
Collaborates with release teams (product managers, engineering leads and project managers) to develop project schedules, deliver results.
Evolves team’s processes and approaches to continuously improve the impact of the UX team.
Design Leadership
Defines user experience requirements and integrates user needs and business goals into effective world-class design solutions and strategy.
Research and explore innovations and best practices.
Recommend and lead implementation of improvements.
Serves as the visual design expert for digital products team and stakeholders.
Oversees the creation wireframes, user flows and user interface designs.
Reviews and approves design enhancements before they go to production or reports before going to senior stakeholders.
Guides the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the firm’s digital style guide, sets standards for visual design.
Reviews design choices with stakeholders, development team and senior leaders.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders and partners firm-wide.
Develops and delivers training for the digital products team and business partners.
Desired Skills and Experience
7-10 years of experience of user experience, user interface or web design experience and portfolio with managing teams to experience delivering large-scale projects.
BA/BFA/BS in Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field required; Masters strongly preferred.
Proficient working with Agile development methodologies and iterative product management.
Proficient knowledge of wireframing/prototyping tools like OmniGraffle, Azure, InDesign.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Content Management Systems.
Self-directed, entrepreneurial comfortable with ambiguity. Thrive in a fast paced, high-throughput environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with business owners, developers, and user experience designers both in the US and India.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills – comfortable explaining design concepts, options, and decisions to senior stakeholders.
