And in the middle of it all, our group here at PayPal is doing foundational work in building core Demand Generation platforms to redefine the customer and merchant relationship experience. We are looking for deeply technical and passionate leader to grow this space. He / She will be responsible for leading & developing core teams in our Boston office. Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction and recommends strategy; recommends course of action to senior leadership for approval on matters affecting the organization managed.
Establish recommended organization structure for area managed, and developing organizational capability needed to execute strategy.
Establishes organizational procedures and plans, consistent with company policy.
Requires cross-functional relationships, communication and negotiation. Organizational awareness to effect results by maneuvering through appropriate formal and informal organization channels.
Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies and the company's goals in addition to industry knowledge.
Practices strategic and transformational leadership while actively molding culture.
Work with geographically distributed organizations and contributes to the success of his/her team and other related teams.
Exhibit creativity and resourcefulness at problem solving while collaborating and working effectively with best in class architects, engineers of different technical backgrounds, architects and product managers.
Spends 30% of their time developing people and their team; provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to managers and individual contributors across the entire organization.
Partners and actively influences other leaders on a regular basis.
Visible across technology and influences technology initiatives.

Qualifications:

8+ years related experience with 5+ years experience in leading/managing teams
Extensive experience building and designing large-scale server applications.
Expert knowledge Distributed systems; developing and debugging in Java or C++ ecosystem
Proven experience in Object Oriented Design and Development; Experience in SOA
Sound knowledge of Relational Databases (RDBMS), SQL & No-SQL databases; designing clean, scalable data models and data access patterns with partitioning and sharding.
Experience in front-end technologies such as responsive designs - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node
Effective communication and problem solving skills.
Experience with agile/scrum methodologies to iterate quickly on product changes, developing user stories and working through backlogs.
Prior knowledge of Big Data systems - Hadoop,HBase,Pig,Hive,Oozie - a big plus.
Prior knowledge or related experience on any of the following Advertising, Internet Marketing, Search Engine Marketing, Loyalty Marketing, Email Marketing, Incentive Management, Segmentation, Personalization, Targeting, Relevance Engine, Notifications , Web Analytics Behavioral Tracking & Hadoop systems a big plus.
Education - BS/MS EE or CS degree
