Job Overview

We are looking for a technology visionary, champion and change agent to join our global Oil & Gas software organization in San Ramon, CA. You will be working directly for the O&G Software CTO, in the role of Chief Architect for cloud technology and software platform driven solutions. This role is about assimilating Cloud technology into our Oil & Gas platform solution architectures and roadmaps. Success requires working across functional and business boundaries as a key member of the O&G Software CTO organization leading software architects and development activities within multiple projects and across multiple O&G businesses and engineering teams. Exploration, proofing, road mapping, design, mentoring and governance are critical aspects of this role operating collaboratively with corporate, 3rd party, Oil & Gas platform and business engineering teams to shape, define and review Cloud related strategies, plans and execution.

Responsibilities
In this role you will:
Be the technical expert and beacon across the Oil & Gas portfolio for Cloud-based technology, architectures and aligned engineering practices
Influence and contribute to business and technology strategic planning and roadmap definition
Set and maintain the architecture vision and software directions from shared infrastructure and platform services through application adoption patterns
Team with lead Architects to define system models, boundaries, interfaces and related standards
Assess technology fit, risk and readiness for Oil & Gas business planning and adoption
Developing and promoting Cloud related research, partnerships, accelerant and convergence opportunities
Lead and/or oversee related design activities, from concept designs to scrum team reviews and delivery of software infrastructure, platforms and services
Consult and mentor software technologists pursuing Cloud-based development across the portfolio
Identify and champion best practices for engineering and business success with Cloud based technology and deployment models
Participate in a team-based Scaled Agile Framework models for software life cycle management
Develop deep understanding of Oil & Gas business software requirements with the experience and acumen to accelerate portfolio advancements, convergence and delivery
Collaborate with technical leaders, product managers, and peers across functions (e.g. QA / RA, Supply Chain, Service, Marketing, Sales, IT) to drive Cloud-based awareness and competencies
Build portfolio community for Cloud-based activities, engagement and knowledge sharing

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in software engineering or technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms coupled with business acumen
Minimum of 7 years of experience in web-based applications, middle-tier services, database, storage, distributed computing, virtualization and/or application technology migrations
Minimum of 8 years working in solutions design and architecture delivering industrial solutions with at least 5 years delivering Oil & Gas solutions

Passionate about technology with the pragmatism necessary to solve customer problems and deliver value
Experience in delivering horizontal software middleware or building applications on Cloud environments (IaaS, SaaS or PaaS)
Ability to identify new approaches to complex design problems (federated identity, complex event processing, embedded real-time and cooperating ecosystems, etc.)
Knowledge of technologies including HTML5/JavaScript, JSON, Spring, RESTful services, public cloud services, etc.
Experience in Oil & Gas related software/applications/systems development with knowledge of O&G related standards and protocols and Oil & Gas industry related data types/standards
Ability to influence non-technical aspects of technology change (e.g. business and operational architectures)
Hands-on experience in multi-generation technology planning, convergence and rationalization
Experience challenging and escalating critical yet potentially unpopular issues in a rational manner that drives quality results
Strong at teaching, coaching and mentoring Engineers and other functions
Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills
